***The EDM Scene in India***

It's small in comparison to Europe.. but it's growing - significantly after the Sunburn Festival in Goa, Dec 07.

We've got at least one serious website www.submerge.in which I help run. What we could use, is a greater knowledge inflow for the users of this site. There's an active forum at http://forum.submerge.in , but I often find there isn't enough information on artists/albums/producers flowing thru to it's users.

It would be great to see some of you post there occasionally. It's very very unlike TA - docile in comparison to the stuff that flies around in here... and we've preferred to keep it that way in order to encourage use by new users.

There are a few very good clubs constantly promoting EDM - Fuga in Bangalore, Six month story and Elevate in New Delhi, Poison in Bombay and Speed in Chennai... and of course there's the Goa scene where Submerge does it's annual parties on the beach.. here are a few videos from last year's party -

The second one is on Pearl's facebook group here..

.... and there's a third one here:

.... and one more - http://youtube.com/watch?v=zcqHYgLoTkU

There are a bunch of talented DJs as well - Jalebee Cartel, Midival Punditz, DJ Pearl, Ma Faiza, Bassociety, Brute Force, Sanjay Dutta, Nawed Khan, Vachan Chinnappa, Nawed Khan, Iggy the DJ...

For those who may want to play in India - please get your managers (or do it personally) to contact the clubs I've mentioned. We've just had Thrillseekers and Kasey Taylor play, with gigs from Tom Novy, Roog, Paul Van Dyk, ATFC and Dousk in the pipeline... J00f's had some stunning gigs here last year- so has Ferry, Durand, Digweed, Pete Gooding, Nick Warren, Yahel, Adam Sheridan, Mike Koglin and Gordon Edge in the past year.

Goa trance isn't huge anywhere except belgium. AFAIK psytrance is far more popular in Israel.

you mean edm apart from goa/psy?

Yes, I mean EDM apart from psy which has always had a dedicated following around Goa and some of the larger cities in India.

This scene has also been largely shut down in Goa because of issues with drug usage and sale at psy events. Last year was miserable in Goa with hardly any decent raves nor any serious artists coming in because of the new crackdown on psy parties.

I think he meant relative to its popularity to other genres
I replace huge with reasonably large.

The first track sounds a lot like "Luke Dzierzek - Echo"....I highly doubt it is..but could be a remix....could be the John Dalhback mix.

You don't even know the half of it - They've banned dancing in Bangalore.

The only other place on the planet they've done this is in areas controlled by the Taliban.

Darkarbiter is right about Goa trance and Belgium at least... nowhere in the world is the new school movement so strong and widespread in comparison to the more commonplace psytrance scene.

I agree with you,the EDM scene is surely inn.. I have been a regular at poison and that place rocks with EDM more than usual bollywood nos. Well Nikhil you know u have a platform why dont you come up with similar music. your last track from zinda was cool.it was progressive though but also was too long to be frank.. N to be honest I know few DJ's locally trying to make music they somehow end up being electronic. but dont agree with it. How du u define some of our hindi remixes using electronic music.. there isnt a genre defining them..
