Leafs Actually Cursed?

I dont know. Last week things were looking good. They were losing. The current idiots running the organization were being exposed and they go 3 wins in a row then battle decently against New Jersey tonight......

I mean ideally i want them to win but realize that for this team to actually contend to win it all (and why would i want to watch a team contend for just an 8th spot in the playoffs?) they need to finish last in the league, trade sundin for assets, draft well next season, hopefully have traded away more of these bad contractsover the summer and have hired a proper hockey descision making president.....but if they stay in near distance of 8th spot they will stand pat and stay how they are.....GARBAGE!

Why cant they just keep losing?
Can they actually be cursed to mediocrity for years to come?

ps. exciting football games are still pretty boring

They're not cursed. It's a simple matter that no one in Toronto actually cares how well the Leafs do - they'll continue supporting them, going to their games, and selling out the ACC. They could be dead last in the league (which they're not far off from), and people would still go. Other cities, it's not like that - their teams needs to actually win to keep the people interested in the sport of hockey, otherwise they'd lose a tremendous amount of money. To the Maple Leaf franchise, there's little incentive to draft good players and good coaches to try to win the cup.

I was so happy last week to see reports that they want to get rid of ferguson. It is just ridiculous now, so depressing to watch them. It kind of reminds me of Newcastle in the premiership. A crappy team that for whatever reason sees themselves as a huge club. hahaha before we can get good again, we need to recognize that we are absolute losers

I don't think it's the lack of trying to draft good players, but Leafs scouting department needs to be fired.

Plus Leafs trade away way too many draft picks and always pay too much for a trade.

I'm still a Leafs fan (if I bother to follow hockey nowadays which I rarely do) but too much mediocrity makes me cringe in terror.

but is that all theyre concerned with?
filling seats?

i mean damn what about leafs tv....general tv viewership? even radio.
are people watching every game on tv or listening? why would people want to bring sadness into their lives ? lol

and honestly the theory that theyre content with regular season sales is plain bull. they want playoff revenue. the teachers are blood suckers in this case

Even Leafs fans say the Leafs suck.
The evidence is conclusive.
Leafs suck.
After 40 years, how can anyone not agree with that?
Only when Leafs fans and corporate ticket owners give up on the Leafs and stop going to games, that management will finally do something about it. And when is that going to happen?

It's time to give up.

When management finally does something, I might finally pay attention.

my mom does watch every game and gets just as pissed off every time they lose, but knows full well unless they make changes they have no hopes in hell. This year though, my parents have stopped going to Leaf games live cuz they don't want to pay the money to continue to watch their team lose. But my parents are only 1 in how many other fans that will still support them til the bitter end.

Playoff games are where sports teams in general really start to make money. I can't even imagine how much Leaf's playoff tickets would cost. Nathan raises a really good point here. If they do have the constant fan support and will continue to fill the arena regardless of how good or bad the team is....why don't they clear shop and put a winning product on the ice and go a couple rounds in the playoffs? I don't know what the actual revenue figures would be but I don't think it would be unreasonable to say that going to the conference finals would bring in an extra 10-20 million dollars (and I think I may be low balling it here).
