What do you all do to 'give' back, if you do, i.e. what do you donate to etc... ?

Alot of charities are pretty crooked. There are few here and there, and if a bum seems genuinely "bum-like" I'll give a few bucks here and there. It's doing the right thing and investing in kharma, and it's worth a few bucks and some pocket change here and there. As long as the guys shoes don't look more expensive than mine, I don't mind

I donate more money than I spend on my self it seems.

Music/dance programs
Katrina has a lot of programs to build schools and homes and I donate to them
And to the children hospital here.

It's a secret HOW much I give because people would be like " zomgwhy? "

I usually give to people who you feel sorry for like those with no arms or legs and playing music on the side with whatever part partially remaining.......I dont give to people who are completely okay and can work and make money but ask for it instead.

I rather donate my time and volunteer than give $$$ to charity since I know my actions have made a difference rather than hoping my money I give to charity would go to the right people.

Thats exactly why I won't donate to certain funds. These funds perpetuate a problem by making a business out of it.

For example, there are tons of charities to help an impoverished Africa. Africa does have alot of problems just getting basic food and water. But I took some classes in college where I learned that alot of the reasons why they don't get help are because of these:

1. Drug gangs take shipments
2. Drug gangs demand $ to release shipments
3. Tribal / Village warfare
4. Lack of infrastructure

The conclusions of many experts is that many of these tribal / village areas need to unite, work together, overthrow or somehow get rid of any associated drug gangs, and build infrastructure. Then we should invest in their agricultural systems so they can farm on their own and produce for themselves. By funding small donation groups, which likely takes a nice chunk of your donation, it perpetuates a problem and serves only minor relief.
