how to connect my mixer to my laptop?

a few days ago, on the internet, i saw someone mixing using a mixer that is only connected to the computer.
how do i connect the mixer to the computer? what kind of equipment or software do i need?
im goin to try it coz it looks like intresting |

| If you use a mixer that supports midi(via usb or firewire) like the xone 3d you can use this with ableton live or traktor. |

You could use a system like this http://www.scratchlive.net, with 2 turntables and your mixer.
I think the djm600 is not midi capable. |

like I said in the post above, you need a mixer that can send midi via usb or firewire. For example the ECLER NUO 4 is midi capable. |

i dun think djm3000 is midi capable |

Sure, he just routed the audio out from the soundcard to the mixer channels.
Thats all, but you can not control traktor with that mixer, you can just use the volume control on the mixer. |
