I'm thinking of purchasing a computer at www.canadacomputers.com,
or a better place.

Can anyone recommend anything?

Thank you!

Try www.pccanada.com
that's where I got mine at.

build your own machine cause if you buy one from a company they give you crap parts.....the cheapest place to buy them is at www.canadacomputers.com, and they have several locations in Toronto Markham and other places ...check out the website

also if you have a computer already from like the last 2 years then keep things like the case cause that saves 100-200 bucks

Get AMD parts because they are cheaper than P4 chips and they just came out with a new processor so all the CPU's below are 100 bucks off

if you want me to build you a system [ chose parts for you and you can get it yourself ] then let me know what kind of system you want

i'm looking around to upgrade mine. This is what I'm going to put in; AMB Athlon XP 1.33, Geforce 4, Sound Blaster Live 5.1, 40 Gig harddrive@7200 RPM, all for about $670 from PC Canada. I could probably find it cheaper, so I'm looking around...

I built mine online at www.ncix.com. they're out in BC but I haven't had any trouble whatsoever with it and it was cheap!

Bah... just head down to College/Spadina area, and check out the stores down there. You'll get almost the same bargain prices but will save up some money on shipping.

If you really wanna buy online, then go with www.ncix.com or canadacomputers.com, and don't waste your money on Pentiums (unless you're building an out of this world machine like myself)...

Even if you are building an "out-of-this-world" machine...why go with Pentiums? Just get the highest-clocked Athlon, which is the Athlon XP 2100, I believe, which pretty much matches every the P4 2.1 Ghz, for much less.

Both have their pluses and minuses though

Yeah, but for Video/3D imaging, nothing beats pentium 4, trust me... Athlon comes close, but a dual P4 2.2GHz system is just unbeatable. And price isn't much of an issue here either (not that I can afford $10,000 machine, but then again, I have enough dough to build a crazy ass system)...

Man, if money is no object then get a dual-Athlon system. P4's are only good for SSE2 optimized code, otherwise they suck.

You might also want to look at SCSI hard drives.

I am looking at SCSI HDs, 15,000RPM each... and money isn't a huge of an issue for me, but for the Durafei it might be.
