yeah..i know...doesnt the label bubble and crinkle up, and that's where the data is stored??? well at least that's what i was told.....

i made sure to avoid writing with my Sharpie marker on top of the cd, but instead i wrote on the clear middle part...just to be sure..

YES! to demonstrate..get the last AOL cd you recieved through your post, and do tests with it!
firstly, scratch the top of the cd with a compas or something, and you will find that it is very thin. it flakes off very easily, and the blue dye type ? that is where your data is written to...i think.
also try:
- find an *UNWANTED* microwave and cd, and microwave the cd for a while. u get blue sparks flying about betweent the plastic layer and the data layer :D - but this will wreck both your microwave and cd, so don't come complaining to me if you blow up your mothers new 500 pound microwave!!
- try bringing a cd into a tanning bed withyou :)
- try pointing an infrared heat in it's derection for a while

also a massive fire risk to, never try this unless your doing it under very controlled circumstances

Guys, when you backup all your mp3's does that mean you have like 50+ cd-'s full of music that you can listen to on a stereo ?

not unless your cd player can play mp3s
usually need to make audio cds to play in a stereo, which is 80mins per disc

how do you organise your mp3s before burning them?
ive made 8 mp3 cds but they're just random tunes off the HD
or ones i didn't really listen to much anymore
or just by date they were created....??

There's this really cool thing, the Audiotron (http://www.audiotron.net) that costs ~$300. You plug it into your home network and you install a piece of software on the machine with all your MP3s, and you hook this device up to your stereo and you can listen to your MP3s that way! If you've got the $300, it's well worth it. I don't have it, but read the review on Tom's Hardware and he says it's worht the money (http://www4.tomshardware.com/network/01q4/011220/). Figured you guys would like to know about this. I'm actually considering buying one.

i bought a couple of stereo jack to 2 phono plugs, connected them to my sound card and hi-fi
now i can listen to whatever i want off my puter (mp3s etc) and i can record off the radio onto the puter :D
best thing ive bought in a long time, unfortunately i blew the treble in my speakers cus i had it too loud and i had the treble turned up in winamp :o
the cables came to a total of ~$5, slightly cheaper

i have a question...when you guys back up live sets...do you back them up AFTER you cut them up with like a CUE sheet into tracks...or do you back them up before BEFORE u cut them up and just backup the 1 large MP3 of the live set?

i dont think that cue files will physically cut them up into separate tracks when burning as "data", if that's what you are getting at. i've backed them up as WHOLE COMPLETE mp3's, i only use cue files to burn the livesets on cdr's as "audio cd's".....so i can listen to in the car...

plus: preparation time for each cd, listening time to make sure DATA ACTUALLY BURNED CORRECTLY;), as well as time lost for trying to find out which 4 gigs of trance singles i forgot to burn (that took about an xtra hour:whip: )

fun fun...
