Circular vs. Triangular Pan Law for dance music?

I was wondering what type of panning laws people use in their dance music. Because Triangular (linear) seems to be more punchy than Circular
Just in case you dont know that teh different types of pan laws are I will take a second to explain.
Triangular/Linear (Center channel 0db) - Sounds panned to the left and right channels lose volume the harder they are panned. Pan 50% = -3.0db decrease in gain. Pan 100% = -6.0db decrease in gain. This is not as "natural" sounding to the human ear but seems to go well with real bassy music.
Circular (Center Channel -3.0db) - Sounds panned to the left and right channels abrutly up to 50% will be equivalent to the center channel's volume any harder panning will begin to suffer decrease in gain. Sounds panned 100% right or left will suffer -3.0db decrease in gain. This is perceived to be more "natural" sounding to the human ear.
I have been using the triangular method more recently and it seems my tracks have more punch to the bottom end because emphasis on the center channel where hte kick and bass are is that you want the most in any dance music from what i understand. But it just makes me wonder why people use circular.

| if i understand your explanation right it's all about the how fast it will be more panned. i don't see any differences here from the acoustic site. panning is all about the ratio between left and right and if it's triangular or circular it's not different. you can always have all ratios between 0:1 to 1:1 to 1:0. so this means you can have the same settings with both methods -> it's just about the settings and will not sound different. |

lol at making it sound more punchier.
As thecYrus said. It is just a setting which affects the role off in volume depending how wide you pan things. You can obvioulsy get the same settings as the triangular by simply panning and then reducing the volume by 3db. |

And I think that people who dont think about these things have their tracks suffer due to poor mixing and lack of proper use of the stereo field. |

all i really care about is the idea behind the song. i couldnt give less of a whether the tracks panning is triangular or circular. if the tracks idea and depth are no amount of mixing, triangular/circular/octagonal/hexagonal panning is going to make it sound good.
there are stuff i have in my collection that has absolutely horrible quality mixing and production, but the idea is so friggin phenomenal and deep it makes you want to listen over and over and over.
