Sega CD - Sega's attempt at competing and staying up to day with the SNES. Instead of releasing a whole new console, they release an ugly add-on. FMV games galore.
Sega 32X - Almost pointless, yet ANOTHER add-on for the Genesis that you inserted into the Genesis slot. Nobody could really be sure if games actually looked better or not.
hahaha. i went from the megadrive straight to the PC (havent looked back since! :D) but i did own a lynx (first colour portable perhaps?) i cant even remember what year that was, 1992? that tanked pretty hard haha. i also bought a saturn when after it has been destroyed by sony coz i couldnt afford a PC upgrade and the games were selling for $15-$30 each.

3DO - Not necessarily a bad system, but its price killed it before it even launched....$700 The first Need for Speed game ever made made its debut here before being ported to the PSone and Saturn.
Atari Jaguar - Its 64-bit!!! No its not, but thats what Atari was trying to claim back in the day when the bit number decided if the console was worthy or not. The controller looked like a TI-83 calculator, and all the good games were ports.
which one of these was also in the arcades? i forget. its funny when you look back and remember that there were far more gaming systems developed than you immediately consider!
i still wanna know the name of the system with the paddles to play pong on your tv i was playing in about 1981.

The Lynx was indeed the first color handheld, and it hit the scene well before Game Gear. One of my good friends from back in the day had one, nifty but a battery eater just like Sega's handheld incarnation. Sega Saturn deserves special mention here for being a failing console that actually kicked ass. I loved it.

Hmmm....I dont think 3D0 or Jaguar went to arcades, at least I dont think, I could be completely wrong. You might be confusing those two with the Neo-Geo, which did have arcade roots. The Neo-Geo itself was a bit pricy, but it wasnt the console price that outraged people, it was the prices of the GAMES themselves. I you not, games usually cost between $150 and $200. That's right. One game.

I played virtual boy a very long time ago and I think it wasn't even close to virtual reality. I really had a very bad headache after playing this console.

I actually tried the Jaguar when I was at a mall with my dad one time. The guy tried to hype it up as much as he can, but the gaming experience was so bad, no one wanted to rush out 20 feet to the nearest gaming store to buy it.
That controller was just cumbersome to the point that it hindered gameplay.
As a pre-teen kid who wanted every system imaginable, I did NOT want a jaguar after playing it

did someone mention zelda for the cd-i? aka, how nintendo let one of their greatest franchises be raped by 47 retarded, deformed, mental institute inmates to produce the gaming worlds most unspeakable terror...

It was practically dead upon arrival. For one, Atari marketed the bastard with the worst mindset possible, bragging only of the system's specs. they claimed the Jag was the first 64-bit console ever. Okay, now, even if that was true (which, according to some serious game sites, is not, its really just a manipulation of some sort, the Jag is really only 32-bit, perhaps lower) thats not the point of a game console, its the games. and the Jag had . Doom, AvP, and Cannon Fodder are the only games I've ever heard of that resembled any real quality, and all of those have appeared on other platforms, so they are pointless.

Yeah, their marketing was based on the assumption that consumers thought more bits -> better graphics -> better gaming experience.
at least their commercials were entertaining lol
Cybertron, the first game on the youtube commercial collection, was the game I got to play. It was a painful experience.
