The world was created in 1978? Sounds like a JEW conspiracy to me!!

Wouldn't a black hole technically be a concentration of non-mass? Omfg. Noodle. le_baked.

Why would that be? A black hole is a huge amount of mass in a very dense form.

I thought that was a neutron star.

I'm wrong, huh? :sadgreen:

No, you're actually right. But when it's even heavier than a neutron star it becomes a black hole.

The difference is that from a neutron star it is possible to escape with a certain amount of energy and velocity. A black hole, on the other hand, is so heavy that not even light can leave it's gravitation field. That's why it's black.

Right, right. But I thought that when the supernova was large enough and burned hot enough, it essentially melted all of its mass into a black hole and became just a void in the space-time continuum. Therefore, it became non-mass in a sense...darkmatter or something? I'm obviously not well-schooled in this. :p

One really awesome thing I remember about neutron stars is that, theoretically, if you were standing on one [lol, I know, hold on] and you looked straight into a mirror, you would actually be seeing the back of your head, given the right circumstances. I guess they are so massive [yet small...just extremely condensed], the gravitational pull bends light to a certain degree which is why they are technically visible, unlike a black hole.

Not really, since dark matter is still matter, it just doesn't send out light.

Now that's cool, didn't know about it.

There also a theory about the universe based on black holes that I like very much. It says that the big bang was a black hole becoming so heavy that it exploded and created the universe. Given enough time all the matter would again gather in one huge black hole (logical, since they can only grow but never become smaller) and when the last particle is collected it explodes again, and the whole thing starts all over. I really think that's one amazing concept, much cooler than God or Cthulhu or a giant turtle.
