my two cents. dont hate me. |
It's cool you can always put your 2 cents in. To bad you dont know everything before you put it in. |

Thanks for your two cents. I will put those two cents with the thousands of dollars that I have put into the Mitiska, D;Fuse and other shows that Elevate has coming up and use that two cents as comfort knowing that I should just consider sharing good music, and only consider sharing good music, instead of actually looking out for the best interest of my investment and being meticulous and calculating in what I and Matt are trying to achieve here in Dallas.
Or I could actually continue being smart about this and try to put together a linup of different local talent that the EDM scene is wanting while trying to bring different talent that WILL bring a crowd. Not sure what motives other have on here and won't even begin to speculate. But, I'll bet that, all bull aside, everyone here would rather play for and pull in at least a decent crowd instead of playing for four of my friends in a club that holds about 600-800 people.
I didn't go into this thinking of making money. Actually I always hope to break even and put on a good show. Mitiska was a prime example. Many people gave thanks to Matt and myself for bringing in a good DJ instead of a big name. But if you think I am going to just blow that money off because a talented group of local DJ's and I got to share our music, you need to switch the type of glue you've been sniffing.
I understand what you mean by your post. But if the scene that we all want to thrive is to grow in any city in Texas, there will need to be money invested and money made to continue doing that. It's the responsibility of those that choose to promote and invest in the scene to never start to sell out to what will make the most amount of money and forget about what would really make the scene great. Once you do that, you morph into something that is very similar to the local promotion groups in Dallas that work for the same individual that bankrolls them. I don't think I have to say any names there for anyone to figure it out.
I'll see your two cents and raise you. |

oh dude. maybe you misunderstood what i was trying to put out. or maybe its just me, i cant really communicate through words or through some keyboard as good as i can in just speaking.'
what i was trying to imply was that as a dj you cant go in thinking your going to bring in money or that your always gonna get paid for every gig.
there are things that need to be done to get a better chance of success in this scene LIKE promoting.
look @ sean carnahan for example, he started djing and got residencies and began promoting heavy. then stuck to promoting n then back to djing and he got big. now he just promotes and hes succesful.
im not trying to imply anything derogatory towards your work jonas. if there was an actual structured way of doing things to succeed in the business id say your doing it the right way. i would finish off this post with a witty yet insulting remark but your girth intimidates me all the way down to my gizzards you big handsome bastard.:nervous: |

for the record, the shows where its just 4 or 8 guys in some big club or just a kitchen are my favorite. |

There were a couple of things that you were getting at that I was just responding to. We all have different opinions of what we want out of the scene and how we think it should work. The most important thing is that those that have the power to make it better take it upon themselves to take on that responsibility and remember that the scene is bigger than them or any one show they play or promote. If everyone looks beyond that, we all benefit. I have that ability at the moment and am trying to do what's good for the Dallas scene and other cities if I get the chance to. You are a good example of wanting something more for the scene. I know where your passion lies and it's not just in your personal fame. For that, I commend you. Others share that same passion, and some are just doing what they can to be the next big thing. It's funny though. Those that participate with selfish intention usually seemed to weed themselves out before they ever really got started, and the scene improves at that moment.
My girth has spoken. You may go about your way now.:clown: |
