True i whined about Ultra last year because frankly in the past before last year, i never focused on the artists as heavily. It was always spring break the same time as wmc so whatever the lineup was id go. Last year i had to cut a few class days off and never paid attention to how ultra promoted if they had phases or not. So yea, last year was the first true time i paid detial to ultra.
Wetgrooves had it right for the other parties last year, it was only Kiss that for some bizarre reason was messed up. Thats all i ment with that. The other events were for the most part a success, but Kiss, which i think competed strongly with the nikki beach lineup they had as to which was better, just didnt promote well. Juicy is a great example of what to do on a large scale event. I got a message from Steve saying the wetgrooves pool party (only party this year) will be on thursday, so if they want to battle it out with the other events, i think itll be a huge huge mistake to at this point list stay tuned for big suprise headliner when the other events are for the most part listing the entire act. I guess i wasnt mad so much at the event but rather the way they marketed the event when i studied this a few years ago.
I mean do you agree or not that in this case, with only one party this time around, wetgrooves should be very smart as to how they release the names. They are at a tough spot now. If they released info before the other outdoor parties already listed, they could have done what they did last year with Kiss, but being late and with huge hype and demand for the other events, will wetgrooves have the power to play around with the marketing to hype the event? I dont. I think a strong phase 1 if phases at all at this point. the WMC hype starts so early that if you dont jump on the wagon you get the shaft.
*Update - also the venue was new at Kiss. It was a lounge hall called Chakra which no one knew of. So to start off low with a new location that doesnt have name appeal is a bad decision. They did hype the name up as the top of the line lounge or what not, but name appeal isnt something that comes with promotion. its mostly word of mouth. It seemed like they were marketing the location more than the event |

I really enjoy ultra. I am a fan of change and festivals are something i really like. Be it rock or electronic - the vibe is different and its just cool to see so many people range in different tastes of electronic music all come together. And... when trying to get people to wmc who arnt super into the music and listening to artists they dont know, you need to feed them the names they want to hear and see. I never paid attention to phases since for me ultra wasnt for the music as clubs are per say. But for friends who have never been you need to tell them its worth there money by the names on the bill. and some were under 21 so ultra was it for them.
And when your school break doesnt land exactly the same time as wmc its really hard to get friends to come to wmc especially those under 21 so yea thats my explanation for the mass ranting last tyear to get artists announced haha. |

Not yet. Still waiting on some other events before i finalize. Sucks though because the presales are going out already. Should just by and then sell.
So far its either wetrgrooves or juicy party for thursday during the day with armada at night. Friday its ultra. Saturday its Ultra with armada. I arrive tuesday at 2pm and def want to do both day and night events but so far its tough calling what events. If no more trance is added, its going to be real tough picking between the house artists. There are a ton and many great ones. Since im not a hardcore house fan deciding will be a bitch. Looking at the events people are going to and its helping decide somewhat as im seeing who is attending both trance and house events - since i cant pinpoint to many house djs and say "thats the dj i dont want to miss." Still debating if i want to go to sander and pvd for friday - i know its going to be insane but would like to make sure there isnt anything else goping on with djs i havnt seen yet. |

hi everyone!
just wanted to give you and update on things...
last year, we bit off a bit more than we could chew and didn't announce full line up for the kiss party because of agents holding out on us til the last minute...last minute, less promotion, plus the venue choice was a poor one. hence the reason they probably won't have anyone doing events with them this year.
as for this year, yes there will be only one event do to my crazy schedule with film and tv production, but i wanted to do at least one.
also, the relationship between myself and my partner finally dissolved after much conflict and drama that i did not want to be part of. i had to do much damage control. i will leave it at that.
i love producing events and have been doing so in miami for almost 10 years now and couldn't stomach the thought of not being at wmc. i love it and love seeing all of the crazy edm fans...so here we go again.
i have partnered up with the owners of ultra and space to bring you one mega pool party!
i can tell you this...it will be at the surfcomber hotel pool on sunday, march 30. there will be great house music and of course...TRANCE...just the way you like it.
i will try to answer all questions and appreciate any positive comments and ideas you have.
AS SOON AS I HAVE COMPLETE LINE UP...I WILL ANNOUNCE IT HERE JUST AFTER I POST IT ON THE WETGROOVIN MYSPACE PAGE.
which by the way somehow got switched. been trying to get it changed back for several months now. it was www.myspace.com/wetgroovin but got changed (???) to www.myspace.com/firesanfran. don't ask, cuz i don't know.
i do not own the wetgrooves.com website so there will be nothing posted there.
i look forward to hearing from you.
party on! |

Wow, ok that answers all my rants and im sure many others. Thanks for that.
Out of curiosity, Fire events... is that affiliated with you directly or do you just help with organizing a fire event? Fire seems to be a huge success in Dallas and now with a residency in SF, among the other cities.
Is it possible to get event hours before the lineup is announced? This would help greatly with plans for an afterparty. I trust your lineup will be great and thats why i havnt bought juicy tickets yet. Will also promote the event as much as I can for ya once you have something going. Just more enjoyable to have a great attendance than a weak one.
*only thing that worries me is the Ultra collab thing. I was hoping for some artists that were great in both trance and house that arnt at ultra - as with previous wetgrooves events at wmc. Hope that applies for the headliners. |

yes fire events are mine. they have been great but again had to take a break to produce some film and tv projects.
the hours are from 12 noon til 11pm.
dont worry about the ultra collab as they are helping me to market the wet grooves event and i help them market ultra.
the line up we are looking at will not be found at ultra...not sure if any but i will have to double check.
btw, thanks for helping to promote wet grooves. i want to personally thank all those who help spread the word. my events would not be the same without all of the positive promo and reviews you have given over the years. |
