I was cold a stupid offensive name once by a man (fortyish something) who was clearly drunk, but not that drunk, on the bus. For no reason, except that I was trying to avoid him, cause he was hovering above my seat and sort of staggering as the bus entered a curve, like a rag hanging on a clotheswire in the wind. But that was back home in my native country.

Once I was also sitting in a bus (trolley-bus), also back home in Europe, in the afternoon, at the very back. There was a double door in front of me and in front of it there was another seat facing backwards to the direction of travel (so the people sitting there would be facing me). There was an older guy (I'm guessing 30+) sitting there who was playing with and sharpening his nails with a big hunting knife during the whole time. He had two friends sitting on a double-seat across the aisle, also facing me; all three of them looked like members of some Balkan mafia (no offense meant to anyone), but they were speaking my language. The dude with the knife seemed kinda disheartening too, even though he seemed to be partly in a jolly-like mood, and he didn't attempt to strike up any form of contact or conversation with me. When the bus came to his stop, this man with the knife got up and went to the stairs on the back-doors, and while he was waiting for them to be opened (the driver has to do it; they don't open automatically like here), he suddenly kicked them hard for no reason. But then he got out, and the bus went on its way, and everyone ignored it. His two companions stayed; they seemed more calmer, and as the bus moved, one asked the other "where was he jailed", referring to the man with the knife, and his buddy replied "in Germany", so I thought.. "wow... cool" :(, and after that I didn't pay any more attention to them.

And final story from here in Toronto: once, long time ago, as I was waiting for a bus at the stop, I refused to give money to a man (are they called panhandlers?) whom I once gave a quarter already. At that time, I was a student in High School and had no job and my family was very financially tight. My mother gave me twenty dollars that day to buy some tickets, and I was afraid that if I take out my purse, he might grab it from my hand and run away (and my mother would have been extremely angry at me). So when he asked me if I have any spare change I said no, and then he got mad and started yelling at me: "of course you don't, cause you guys spend it all, you cock-suckers, etc.... ". Then after he vented out, he crossed the street and took the bus that was coming in from the other direction. There was another girl, about my age, waiting there with me, and when he left, she just looked at me with this amused smile and look that said "he's an idiot". But at that time, I was more sensitive and I was depressed from it for the remainder of that whole day.

Man id rather stay home on welfare than take the bus ever again. Only exception is a quiet simple bus ride with only a few others in the bus.

oops I forgot to add a story.

Once a few years back I was waiting at Lionel groulx Metro to go to Berri to get to Aria. Some spanish guy and his gang members smashed a guy in the head with a fire extinguisher and told everyone around if we said anything he would kill us.
