Ticon - 2am [Digital Structures]

Ian
Many of you will know one of the tunes from here, which was made available for free at xmas as a present from the guys.

Swedish act Ticon, are one of the precious few to have made a credible transition from studio-bound producers into the top tier of live dance acts. Their live sets have been major highlights at clubs and festivals for more than 8 years now and there is no stopping their growing poularity.

With a career starting back in 1995 as bedroom producers, they found their home at the dawn of the millennium with the Swedish label Digital Structures, a synergy which has lasted ever since and has cemented their reputation among party goers and dueful respect among their peers.

Their discography most importantly list their 3 previous albums; Rewind in 2001, Aero in 2003 and the hugely successful Zero Six After in 2005, that with it’s melange of trance, house and electro captured the zeitgeist perfectly. It picked up on the energy of that year’s musical high lights and infused it with playful humour, boundless
enthusiasm, and ridiculously lovable hooks. The cross bred music did it works in establishing Ticon to an even wider audience than before and the number of A list djs who’s played their music in their sets wouldn’t even come close to fit this page!!

2 AM promises to again draw on influences from a diverse range of genres and musical territories, before mashing them together in a sonic blender and dishing them out to hungry dancefloor punters. Expect tight production, expect cheeky samples, expect quality party music deeply infused with fun and a sense of humour ... music that can onlycome from Ticon.

samples sound good! especially models on cocaine, exactly the kind of sound im digging at the mo.

do you know if this will be coming out on digital any time soon or is it cd only?
Ian
hmm didn't I put this in the new releases section? can someone (montana greg or neo) move it there please :p

djdk- I'm not sure about digital format sorry.

Really banging stuff, this is gonna do some serious damage imo, can't really pick at fav tune out of the bunch but the mnml influenced tunes such as spitfire are great!

Thumbs up for Ticon, good start of 2008 !:toocool:

have some badass catching up to do on beatport, new tegma album sounds freakin' awesome too :nervous:

Yet another decent production duo who have largely decided to jump on the electro bandwagon.

What encourages artists to make electro? Beats me.

1987 is the only good track on here, the rest is lousy. Lets have the Ticon back that made gorgeous tracks like In The Dirt.

These guys were much more appealing to me back in the days.
Not saying they are bad now, just my own taste that is different to this new style of theirs.
Their previous album is more in line with me, but still, nothing beats Rewind... :happy2:

Intersting;

I really enjoyed "Zero After Six" and definitely want to hear more. Hope album packs heat.

for you to say that & then pick out one track from this album then i'm surprised it was 1987 & not 'less is more', that one seemed to sound most like the old ticon to me. from the sample at least

whilst part of me agrees with you i think the 'electro' stuff coming out of the progpsy scene sounds alot nicer than the usual rougher/techier variety you hear from house djs, i don't mind most of it

That's what i was thinking too. Less Is More is definitely the most trancy track on the album and it's really a nice one if you ask me. Less Is More and 1987 are good, the rest of the album i will probably not listen to a second time.
