hey rob -
i listened to this mix, and really liked it. honestly the beginning turned me off a bit, but then it just got better and better..
one criticism i could make was that in a few cases you mixed tracks too late for my liking (emphasis on 'my liking'). Sometimes just having beats in there (especially if they are really stripped back like many of these) just sounds grating to me.
In any case I understand and appreciate why you did it, and also let it be known I don't smoke.
I LOVED the detroit influence in this mix.
As always I think these sort of mixes should come from within and are a sort of means of helping one understand oneself (however much it actually helps), and I respect your commitment to playing what you want to hear. I found this rather unique
the ID track is absolutely ridiculous. I will want to know when this is released.
good work as usual
edit
also one thing that i really like about this mix is the dreamlike quality of it
for someone who so vehemently rejects the 'journey' (as in that MD thread), you do a pretty good job of it |

Out of curiosity, which ones did you think went on for a bit too long?
I probably don't disagree with you, just want to see if we're thinking of the same ones. The one that I know really gets down to the brass tacks is the mix into the Kosmas Epsilon remix of "Hayling" - that one was done by design though, I thought it kind of signaled the end of the set, but in hindsight it might be a bit drawn out.

Lol, yeah - I guess what I reject most is the idea that I could try and take people on one consciously. The only times I feel like I get a cohesive set knocked out is when I'm just lost in it and having fun.
In any event - thanks for the listen and thoughts, it's much appreciated as always.

Now this looks absolutely like my cup of tea. Hayling has always been a fave.
Getting in now.

Just to put this out there - and I certainly again hope not to come off as full of myself or arrogant in the least (I realize this mix is far, far from perfect) - but this is one of very, very few mixes I have ever done that I am proud of myself for. I went in with an idea, and in the end really feel I was able to do what I wanted to with it.
In the end I probably made it more for myself than anything, so it feels pretty decent/pleasing to have finished it the way I wanted to.

09. Federico Molinari – Takk Brett (Original Mix) [Oslo]
Forgot how huge this is. I think Troy Pierce dropped it here. |
