With all the discussion about Scientology, my interest has piqued.
I've watched all kinds of videos, both pro and con, checked out websites, both pro and con, and watched Southpark.
I've noticed a distinct lack of information on exactly what the 'free stress/personality test' asks and/or is all about. Therefore, I've got itin my head that I should probably just go down to the centre here in Toronto and get one done, take notes and see if I can't get answers to a few carefully phrased questions - then report back. By way of this poll, who thinks this is a good idea? Are there any questions you would suggest (obvious jokes aside) I ask, and does anyone have any advice (obvious jokes aside) to help me look like the kind of lost soul they try to indoctrinate?
I think this could be kind of fun. |

Ahem...poll failed. It's happened to me before and I'm not starting 15 identical threads...which is what happened when I tried to edit. |

I have done everything you have..... but I wouldn't do the free personality tests.
I know I become very intrigued by things and am very fascinated with other religions like Hara Krishna's.
They will turn you to the dark side. A friend went to the Hara Krishna temple for a project in school and ended up going back even after his research was done. |

I love Scientology. It's the best joke played on the majority of ing idiots who would so easily invoke contrary propaganda to debunk it, as though their exclusivity serves some God who cares about them. :stongue:
That is to say, once more, the most hilarious part about Scientology is that it is just as valid a religion as any other. Volcano ghosts, evil alien overlords and Tom Cruise are just as believable as water into wine, curing the diseased with Jew rainbows and that almighty celebrity-Messiah, himself: J-Sus C-hrst. |

Except that to become more englightened as a Christian you don't have to donate millions of dollars to become a Inter-Gallactic-All-Knowing-Commander-Levl-10. |

Is that how Scientology works? Do you know this for a fact? Or have you been infused with misdirecting propaganda from scared Xtian sources?
Let's hear some facts from sources that don't have a strongly biased agenda against upstart cults.

| I'm going to admit that I do not know a great deal about Scientology other then what I have gained through media reports concerning the same. Based on what I have read and heard I'm not particullarly interested in it; however, I cannot discount it as being invalid. To my reasoning, a religion's value has to be measured by the benefit it's adhearants derive from it. Most accounts I read suggest that Scientologists (in large part) believe that the practice of their religion benefits them. If they believe that their needs (whatever they may be) are being met through the practice of their faith then there is some merit to it and consequently some validity, even if that validity is only in relation to it's adhearants expectations. |
