Some of the discussions that take place in the c0r are every-bit as informed as those that take place here. In truth, I much prefer the serious threads in the c0r to most of what I read here. At least in the cor you see some movement, people actually swayed when someone makes a good argument, new opinions brought to the table, people actually pay attention to the ideas of the others involved. Most of what I read here is little more then learned people reguritating what they learned in a class, read in the last book they bought, or heard on a radio talk show. Rarely does anyone ever accept that an opposing view point has any merit and even more rarely does anyone ever end up even attempting to reconsile someone else's good argument with their own. This isn't really a fourm for discussion; rather, it is a place where people wait impatiently for someone to post something to which they have a prefabricated response so that they can throw out some little nugget of information they've been holding on to since first year phillosophy class then sit back and bask in the glow of their perceived intellectual superiority. It's actually kind of sad in here. Despite there being a lot of bull to sift through in the c0r, I'll take it over this pseudo-intellectual circle-jerk anyday. |
