External Harddrive

I recommend you get one if you have a lot of files on your PC, if you work on videos or other stuff (games, photos, music etc.).

Because let's say your PC crashes you may end up losing your data. And recovering it is not that easy nor cheap if you get it done by a professional. But by backing it up on an external harddrive if something does go wrong, you have the back ups to turn to.

As the price for computer hardware dropped drastically every year, I believe the quality dropped as well. I agreed that you have older hard drives which are still working perfectly and you crashed newer hard drives a few times could be due to quality of the make. In addition, users are left with fewer choices of brand when it comes to buying a HDD.

I used HDD with special care and certainly hope that things don’t go wrong with all my HDD. I purchased an external 350GB multimedia player which I used to backup my data. I would rather get another HDD to have two backup copies of my data than copying my data to DVD as DVD is only 4.7GB and I will need more than 50 pieces of DVD to backup all my data which is time consuming too. If money is not a problem, Blu-Ray will be a good option.
