Gabuci - Vectory EP (audio logic recordings)
Release Date: February 21st, 2008
Being a fan of Gabuci's production, I quickly jumped on this release. Gabuci is back displaying his dark progressive production with his Vectory EP on Audio logic Recordings, a moderately young label but with some promising releases.
First up is EP title track Vectory, a 10 minute bass growling monster that would send any trance kid running for the hills crying for mommy. Greeting you with sharp and chunky drum production, Gabuci wastes no time in introducing the beast that lies inside. Scattering heavily effected strings and ambiances about complimenting his evilly elongated bass. A melody of eerie piano work and altered water drops creeps in play and adds an off balanced mood as Gabuci pushes the track deeper. A ominous break lures you into a nightmarish whirlwind of sounds as; toms, haunting bass, heavily effected melodies, and mind altering ambiances saturate the track before letting you go.
On the back of the release is Hologram, which tends to be a little lighter than Vectory but still shares similar attributes. Gabuci's assertive drum production with snare riding claps and intricate hi-hat rhythm compliments his darker grooved bassline. The melody is more elaborated than on Vectory and tends to create more of an euphoric vibe. A pulsating bass is introduced during the break and carries you back into a new found groove. Even at 9 minute track Gabuci demonstrates fine ability change the essence of the track and keep the vitality as well. Top notch production staging.
This is a fantastic release for anyone that wants a dark EP to add to their collection or set.

I picked up Earth and Water a while back, and I ended up not playing um, got boring over time. This sounds much better though, I like Vectory.
I like his style I just wish it was a tad more organic sounding, less predictable echoes and samey sounds, more surprises. |

Vectory just got a bit too big/melodic for my tastes, still a very nice tune indeed, but Hologram is just a lot of fun to play and mixes/mashes well with just about anything in key.
Clovis - I had the same deal with Fire/Water. Thought I loved "Fire" initially, but the appeal was short lived. Hologram has proven much, much more interesting - so hopefully you'll feel the same way about Vectory.

Cool tracks. "Hologram" has a rather interesting "throbbing" sort of bass sound. |
