Afterlife parties?

Has anyone checked out these parties at the Masquerade? "New Rave" or whatever they call it? I stopped in for a bit on Saturday, and while the music was good, the kids there were... different =P Didn't know if that was the scene or what.

It's basically the emo scene going WTF IS THIS DANCE MUSIC IT'S COOL. I've never been but I know people who go habitually. I'll eventually go, but it's just... odd. :nervous:

odd indeed... BUT.. if you plan on going with friends and getting crazy, can be very fun. i've only been to the masquerade afterlife party once and i felt like it was a bunch of emo kids definitely younger and these kids love to dance to that "electro" music (i guess thats what some of them called it that night when i was talking to them?). ironically, when i asked this guy if had ever gone to a house show he was like "no i don't like that kind of ." i'm sitting here telling myself, buddy, you are practically dancing to house music... just really grundgy sounding house. anyhow, some of the dj's i saw the night i went were La Castlevania, Treasure Fingers (who is actually part of Evol Intent), and Preston Craig (spins the sickest music).

Maybe you would prefer this place in Decatur called Azul if you felt the afterlife party at Masquerade was too "different." Preston throws parties at Azul on Friday nights (i think it is every Friday, but not sure) and those parties are great... open til 4am, drinks are made well, and the crowd is very diverse. i've been to Azul now about 4 times and i have had a blast every time. they spin that same "electro" stuff or "new rave" music but i'd say maybe with a little more 80's sounding music, and more hip-hop. anyhow that's my take!

precisely why I'm not rushing myself there

I've seen Le Castle Vania, and though spinning very old music, he's damn good. He's a great producer too!

Just found out the vault is still rocking out the afterparties... no need to go to any other place @ 4 in the morning ;)

It wasn't so much the style being "different". They were just all annoying as hell =P
