I have to agree with Chem on this (and not just because we got pushed out of the same vagina). The CFL's longer and wider field coupled with fewer downs makes the game more exciting to watch. Unlike the NFL, there is no such thing as a burned play in the CFL (they simply can't afford to give up on a play)... they have to make something happen every down (this is why quarterbacks who started in the CFL are often more exciting to watch if they make the NFL... like Flute and Garcia). Where the CFL falls down is with the athletes... because the teams have less money (owing to a smaller market) they can't afford the best players. I would give anything to see two NFL teams square off on a Canadian field with Canadian rules... the best players playing the more exciting brand of football... it would be fantastic.

If you're an American football fan, you really owe it to yourself to watch a CFL game sometime... the players aren't as good but the game is way better.

i might actually agree with this... but CFL is rarely on TV down here in Florida.. but its just the way it is.. and the NFL will always rule...

The CFL really doesn't have a chance to win over Americans... due to the smaller market the money just isn't there for slick production on the telecasts like you have for the NFL and as stated before the CFL draws the NCAA players that weren't good enough for the NFL so you would always feel like you're watching two NFL team's practice squads (this is due to a natural prejudice... who wants to watch the second best players when they can watch the best). It's unfortunate because I'm fairly certain that if more Americans were exposed to the CFL game the NFL would likely adopt some of the Canadian rules, which would definately improve the NFL.

i was addressing your comment regarding gambling. sure, gamblers are attracted to the game, but i can't imagine the majority of the population attending/watching games would stop doing so, if they couldn't bet. that's ridiculous.

People would still attend and watch THEIR team....but people watch games that don't involve their team because of the gambling factor.....not because they love football that much (yes there are some that do love the game that much but for the most part they watch because they have money on the game.)

I think you're partially right... the ratings would go down somewhat; however, I suspect they would still be large enough to support the coverage they get.

There is still a large market but I suspect the huge television deals would lower as the games would become more market oriented and not national.....things like the NFL packages would become useless...the NHL packages you can buy sell like crap in the states because the hockey fans follow their team...if the states were smart....they would market hockey the same way football is....encourage the gambling....the problem is...too many games to bet on.

When is the CFL's season played? If it is the same time as the NFL they should move it. Start in February after the Superbowl when there is no football on here and no other sport worth watching (basketball and baseball suck and are horrible sports to watch on TV)and I'd watch it for sure. Sundays are lame once the NFL season is over.

Most of the games are Friday nights and Saturday afternoons.

I think Voom World Sports on Dish Network and Comcast carried the CFL in the US last year.

The actual game itself is a much more entertaining game then the NFL. The NFL game is boring.....and is set up to be just that. I am fully aware of the crazy college football and the fact that you can get 10,000 to 20,000 people out to a high school game....it still doesn't make the american style football a better game....its still boring and the popularity is still based on the gambling aspect of it.

That is the funniest thing that ive heard all week. Go watch your paint dry. NFL > CFL and thats the end of that.
