(...more in relation/comparison to Facebook as a marketing tool) If someone is spamming me too hard I can just delete them from my friends list. Done.
In this situation, what am I going to do? Call Rogers and pay the $10 to get the number blocked. WTF. |

Just reply, and asked to be removed from their list.
If they continue, post a thread with the persons name, so we can all heckle him/her from afar. |

Fair enough, that is my mistake. But it's not really the issue either. |

My co-worker was being harassed by some dude calling and SMSing him. He reported the issue to a special division of the RCMP to specifically deal with such matters...The RCMP got the provider to trace the calls/SMS messages, as well as had them isolate and block the offending transmissions... All free of charge. The investigation is ongoing, however it looks like the sender might be charged under the harassment laws. |

Personally, I don't care if the party is happening at the Skydome and the promoter txt's me that day. IMO my personal cell phone is off limits... |

who remembers the thread (threads??) about this back 3-4 years ago (or was it more, cant recall exactly). . .
a huge debate errupted. it became especially a big deal, bc back then ppl were still generally having to pay for all incoming msgs. they werent free as is the case these days (years) for all cdn cell phone companies (AFAIK).
if one is paying for incoming msgs, god, id of course be even more pissed by the spam / unwanted promotion msgs! not only are u being annoyed as jon jon said, but ur freakin' paying for that annoyance too! :wtf: |
