So, I did a total of 5 remixes for this remix contest, that most recent 3 being entered last-minute. Voting for the finalists (of which I am one) started JUST after these were posted. Thought I'd throw 'em up here. Pay no attention to the listed genres for each.
Celldweller Switchback Remix contest...
staeB ecnaD Dance Beats Remix:
4/4 dance beats. One of my better in terms of sound quality. Lot of pitch shifting of samples for chord progression. Also some cutting and reversing for distorted lead-type sound.

Dit-Da-Diddit-Da-BeatsDit-Groove Mix:
You'll realize why it's called that about halfway through. Used a Korg MS2000 for the deep bass and the high reverbed out sound later on in the mix.

Chaotic Space Beatsventure Mix:
Started off with a couple nifty pads and added some inkjet printer noises over it. Also some strange pitchbent synth that I panned and filtered.. reminded me of the Jetson's cars when I was done. Then I just started throwing cut-up loops together and got the mess you hear. The volume changes drastically... I didn't do much of any post-prod.. if at all. The reason for this mix was the intro. I loved what came together, but didn't know how to connect it to anything.

So umm... not really looking for much criticism, I suppose. Just seeing if anyone would enjoy a listen. |

Alright mate,
I've listened to all 3. Not the style of music I normally listen to but I enjoyed them none the less.
Dit-Da-Diddit-Da-BeatsDit-Groove Mix was my favourite of the three though I did love the uplifting intro and outro of Chaotic Space Beatsventure Mix. What did you use for the stringy pads for that intro?
No real critcism other than I thought the bass in the staeB ecnaD Dance Beats Remix could have done with being much more powerful. The kick and percussion in that tune were great but I thought the sub bass you've used needed to carry more weight to really hit the listener.
Overall, they were a good listen with plenty of different ideas across the 3 tracks.
Good luck with the contest!! |

Thanks for the listen Con. you know... same here! Heck, I NEVER listen to drum and bass, and my drum and bass mix was the one chosen for the finals. Beats me.
Space beatsventure... that's atmosphere for the bass and strings. I absolutely LOVE atmosphere. I'll be among the first to lay down the cash for omnisphere when it comes out as well.
On a side note, here's a pop-n-lock monkey: |
