Additions to my hatred:

Euros on TA getting riled up on here about soccer vs. football and degrading American sports. I like both. And YES!!! if all our best athletes only played soccer, we'd absolutely annihilate everyone. American arrogance at it's finest. haha. By the way, all my friends say I'm very worldly but I just play the American on TA.

By the way, I love Cristiano Ronaldo, he's amazing! My fav player to be honest. No one can tell me he isn't a top 3 player in the world.

I do hate:

Chelsea
Arsenal
All Italian futbol (too slow my American blood no like).

I'm supposed to hate Liverpool but I don't. Too many friends like them.

Premier League >>> Serie A

I hate when DA U fans always say "where's he from?" Like I care. lol

San Antonio Spurzzz
Detroit Pistonzzz

College Baseball. Ping! Use wooden bats for christ sake.

I hate any "sport" that you get better as you drink. Bowling. Billiards. Darts. Let's call those dumb recreations.

I hate Boston fans. WITHOUT question, most annoying on the planet. Besides elitist USC Rubbers fans I have to deal with at work. University of Spoiled Children.

If I saw Curt Schilling, I would most definitely want to punch him in the face. I feel so sorry he's injured. NOT!
raveed
Arsenal
Liverpool
AC Milan
Juventus
Barcelona
The German, the Portuguese and ze french national team
The Lakers
Sharapova
Amelie Mauresmo
Thierry Henry
Rafa Benitez
Andre Agassi
RapidFire
Italian football overall but especially their national team

Just like the US annihilates everyone in basketball, baseball, etc?? The US can't even win championships in their own sports. True, some of the best athletes are Americans. But that's only because the geography of the US allows for more diverse activity and the pot of athletes is bigger because it has a larger population than most countries. It has nothing to do with American superiority. It's like comparing a small school to a huge school. Ofcourse the huge school is going to have, in general, better athletes.

Name an individual sport or team sport where Americans have reigned superior over the world for an extended period of time(other than sports almost exclusivly played by americans, that now one else plays, ie. american football)...

That's because our wealth of athletes is spread over a multitude of sports. HENCE my rationale. I think about it this way, we really don't give a about soccer but we are at least a competitive team in the world. We have a large population but not a large population of serious soccer players.

The State of California would have won the 4th most olympic medals in the world if they were a separate country. They'd be the world's 4th largest economy in the world as well. We are 50 million people. A large sum but would place us 24th in the world for population. In reality, it's a matter of economics if you want to get serious.

Using your rationale in a direct linear path, China should obviously be the best sports country in the world. India #2. Therefore, your logic needed much more rationale. Brazil has 186 million people and they are good at? Soccer. And? ...........Funny how that population advantage is never pointed out with them in regards to soccer. However, obviously if they were a richer country they would more than likely be more of a dominating force in athletics in other sports besides soccer.

I pretty much did what I wanted to do and that was to get a serious response to an obvious mocking tone by the way.

College Football.

What the are you guys watching? A group of players barely better than high school football players (and high school football is as fun to watch as Pee-Wee Hockey) with maybe, MAYBE one decent player per team all playing nonstop for what? A completely arbitrary and meaningless championship, that's what.

It's pitiful watching those kids try to play, and what's even more painful is knowing that 9/10 of them have absolutely no future so-to-speak-of beyond that of Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite.

Jog the on you pansies.

Boo you whore, I played college football.

Lol, sorry Jeff - just doesn't do it for me.

I guess the best way I can put it is that unlike in basketball where it seems like the difference in finesse between college and pro (or even high school) isn't really all that much.

There's just a certain degree of ability that I think makes the game more fun to watch - but who knows, years from now I could learn to love it.

That wasn't my rational. Look at which programs in each country are supported highly. The US has a lot more diverse athletic programs supported than India, China, Brasil, etc. India is a force in Cricket, and that program is highly supported. So, along with a large population, they are good at it. The US, not so good, if anybody even plays cricket in the US.

How many people does India bring to the winter olympics? Look at their geography, not as supportive as it is in the US, now is it? My argument did not stem only from population. There are other factors at play.

I have heard the same thing being said by many people, in class, media, etc. So forgive mua, this is the first opportunity I've had to express my opinion about the matter.

verndogs
more stuff I hate

The BCS - give us real college football playoffs please
Landon Donovan - see MLS thread
The Olympics - looks more like a staged pageant than an actual sports competition.
