most of us own them lol
you have a lot of choice with the audiofire line, as the extend from 2 in/out right up to the audiofire 12. it's not like we all own the same card. echo have a good reputation for drivers and the adc/dac is decent for the price. presonus and edirol used to be the go-to brands for budget audio interfaces, since 2005, but the audiofire2/4 were only released last year and are a bit more up to date. |

I think echosystem has a lot to do with why they are so popular amongst TA's - I bet he has shares in the company!!!
.....but that doesn't detract from the fact they are really bloody good cards and I think M-audio is being left behind by the quality and range now being offered by echo.
I must admit I think I will be upgrading to the audiofire2/4 soon.
On another note, I would like to have the option of running pro tools - what are the current opinions on the mbox range (micro to pro)? |

| The Echo Audiofire is a feisty little beast. I really like the design and was surprised by how small it was! I plan to DJ with it in the future, but the darn AC adapter is so easy to pull out. You guys have any recommendations because I would really hate to ducktape the little guy to keep the plug in. |

hmm i thought u didnt need adaptor on audiofire 2 and 4 ??? powered by firewire? read manual page 6 http://www.echoaudio.com/Downloads/Manuals/AudioFire%20Windows%20Manual%20v2.0.pdf
if u have a 6pin firewire on your PC u dont need powersupply |

Yeah, I realize that. Unfortunately, I am working off of a laptop that doesn't have a firewire port. I am using a cardbus adapter to attach the Audiofire 4 with 6-pin firewire except it cannot power the device. It requires an adaptor sold separately, and since I have the adapter for the Audiofire, I figure there is no point for me to buy another one.
At this point, anyone have any decent recommendations? The only other solution that comes to mind is super glue--just kidding... |
