Whats a better self powered monitor ??? (pg. 2)

KRKs FTW!

I haven't heard the Yorkvilles yet, but I've used the 10"/12"/15" JBL Eons and I love them!

Jeff knows what he's talking about with the KRK's. They're brilliant monitors. I know many professional producers who use these in their studio.

Just be prepared for LOUD NOISES as these babies can pound. Massive bass when necessary, but nice and accurate mid's and high's. They're great for nearfields but can also work very well for midfields. I wouldn't really recommend them for newfields as they're pretty big and not so good for a foot from your head.

They resonate very well and also have a subwoofer to add to them to complete the package.

Other than this, I would recommend Mackie over M-Audio hands down if you're looking for quality.

I have the Mackie 628's. They are nice, but I use them more for production.

No need to break the bank on a powered monitor you are planning on using for djing. Plus you probably want to stay away from the flat studio monitors for djing as I found dj mixing on my mackies took a little bit of getting used to.

Regardless you can train your ear to get used to mixing on any speaker, so it all comes down to personal preference and your bank account. Just remember you're going to get what you pay for.

I’m not talking about brand or quality & I don’t much but how can you compare an 8” sub to a 15”?
If you’re going to ask for an opinion you should really give more details. I assume you’re looking for djing monitors? KRK’s are production monitors... yes they can be used to dj in your home I guess but are nowhere near a 15” EON

A bit much for home use, no?

Do u think its better with 2 8" 2ft away from your ears.
I have 2 15's in my home... i also keep them 10-15ft away.

I'm not saying they are that much better.... just giving you my opinion. I tested out several models at the store, and found the Rokit's (8" especially) - to be amazing, especially for the price.

They offer an insane warranty at L&M that you can extend at any point. Something like $20 per year, covers everything except you actually dropping them.

I have a pair of KRK V8's and I can attest to their awesomeness as well.

My only complaint would be that while they have awesome bass and treble I find their mid range to lack somewhat... that could be a result of my ty untreated studio space though.

DynAudio Acoustics also makes very nice monitors:

Move them back a good 2-3 feet and you'll notice a world of difference.

I was the same way until I got my speaker stands sorted. Now they're great ;)
