Placebo's have been shown to have significant effects in psychology.. If you believe you did something bad.. your actions will lead you to be on the receiving end of something bad to happen to you.. Perhaps a self fulfilling prophecy.

You should know all about recieving ends benson :D

I believe the widespread idea of "karma" is due to 2 things:

1) if humans are disposed to help each others as much as possible, our species will tend to last longer. It is therefore natural that people engage in mildly subconscious mutual agreements, where both parts are expected to do something to help the other part.

2) any "bad" actions that a human does (ie, actions that go against what is considered acceptable by society) are always more likely to bring that human poor reputation or sanctions from other humans, compared to "good" actions.

Therefore karma is a (ty) rationalization of these facts, giving an easier, straightforward reason for humans to understand why they shouldn't piss each other off. People are more likely to force themselves to behave if they believe there'll always be a punishment there (harm to their individual being), rather than if they only acknowledge a possibility of punishment, and very-long-term harm for the species.

Just my 2 cents of amateur, cheap, made-up philosophy.

i believe karma exists. its as simple as this. what ever u focus on you attract. if u look for everything with the color green in the wroom u will only see the color green, because your focusing on it. so if your constantly a ur gonna lead urself down paths and eventually be a ed by a bigger at some point.

its human nature to beleive in something more, and additionally

debating moral principles is about as productive as slamming your head into a wall. over and over. because everyone is right in their own mind, like the whacked out bastard that started this thread. he obviously doesnt beleive, will never beleive, and he may end up seeing why OTHER people beleive, but that will not effect his own beleifs.

just look at any radical religion, (and what more is religion than a standard set of beleifs or ideas adhered to) same idea applies there. a lot of talk, but no gain. haha why do you think so many people died in the crusades? very cutthroat environment 'convincing' another of your own beleifs.

my thoughts- if you dont beleive in karma karma will strike you down
and if you do beleive in karma it will fail you
owned bitch

Only if your beliefs consist of nothing more than slamming your head into a wall, yeah.

Otherwise, there is plenty to extract and interact with when it comes to other people's perspectives on almost any matter there is... should you actually be receptive enough to listen to others rather than sit around waiting for your opportunity to make idiotic and utterly unrelated analogies.
