Reworks of Classics / Contest ?

Hello everyone,

I know Iīm kinda new here but I posted a lot and I like this community alot, even though I know the "real" discussion is going on over at APN.

Anyway, thereīs a thought that comes to my mind quite regularly. I have started making music in a Rock Band and playing Covers was our very first approach to music at all. I learned a lot through playing other artists stuff.

When I started producing electronic music I felt like starting from zero again until I started doing "Reworks" auf Tracks I like, trying to re-figure what the producers did.
I see threads like that very often on APN and I got to a thought that is based on a piece I started producing yesterday.

I always loved Rank 1īs Awakening, but I wanted a version that had a more modern sound, so that I could use it as a track in my DJ Mixes. So I started to produce a rework of it.

So I just wanted to ask: What Tracks would you like to reproduce? Should we start a contest or collection? Is this possible (thinking about copyright)...

Just wanted to collect opinions..but if we do it, Awakening is reserved for me ;)

Even though nobody could do it justice, especially myself I would love to do a remix of Amoebassassian - Piledriver (Grayed out summer mix)

the trick is: try to work out all the parts donīt do bootlegs.

Trying to remake sounds from your favorite tracks is very good practice. Plus you often end up with some usable sounds for your own future productions.

The most recent TA remix comp. was for Chicane - Halcyon. Who knows what the next one will be... or when.

Good call...that track was a floor killer back in the day. We use to drop it at the end of sets.

I think thereīs a lot of tracks from the late 90s, early 2000s, that have somewhat defined the basics for trance as we know it today.
