CLIMB 4 KIDS: KILIMANJARO - Support Joel from Footwork!

so check it... at the end of the month, Joel (one of the owners of Footwork), will be leaving for Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest free standing mountain in the world, to raise money for Big Brothers and Big Sisters Canada!!
The event is called Climb 4 Kids, and people from accoss the country are paying their way to down there, training for months, and raising money for this worthy cause along the way.
100% of the money generated goes directly to Big Brothers and Sisters and is not in any way funding Joel's climb.

i don't get it. so mt. everest isn't free standing?
and here i thought all mountains were free standing.

I think freestanding means that it's not part of a range.. ie: the rockies.. the Himalayas etc.. |

I was just thinking that...
side note: you know what's the worst offender of promotions truth-bending on the radio right now (not saying thread poster is)? Have you heard the McDonald's comemrcial regarding the whatchamacallit spicy crunch sandwitch or something? It plays on the radio all day. Listen for "100% pure seasoned chicken breast"
It sounds great, but it's not 100% pure chicken breast. It's still injected with a lot of salt water to increase volume, so it's not pure chicken breast. McDonald's is very deceiving in their add.
and yeah, great cause. |
