Well yesterday when I went to get some cash from the ATM machine @ work...I couldnt get any money out of it,I was surpised/Shocked thinking probably the machine ran out of money or something that nature...5 minutes later I saw another lady go to the same machine and actually got money out it ...... I was thinking maybe my debit card has gone bad or something and the machine cant read it......The whole day went by..... when I was coming back from work I went to an actual TD canada ATM machine at the mall near my house....It wont allow me any money saying contact you're local branch to get the issue resolved.
Today I went to TD branch early in the morning and the lady at help desk looked into my account and said that I probably swiped my card at a place which is now under investigation for debit card copying scam they werent sure where...So they have put my card on hold in which I can only deposit but not withdraw any money out it......So the lady gave me a new card and now I can live life normally.(Thank you TD).
Please try and avoid swiping you're debit or creditcards at random ATMs .... If you need cash just get it from you're actual bank machine and stuff....Specially when paying for gas at a gas station try to use cash rather then you're debit/credit card....
So many ing scams these days you cant keep track of...:whip: |

there are two reasons for that...
1. possible scams
2. pay cash no tax! |

I'm not sure why you weren't able to take money out...there's no 'scam' that will prevent you from withdrawing money unless your account was already frozen...
We're you just being slow and couldn't remember your PIN? lol
You seem kinda fishy...
Can I see you're Canadian documents please? |

I know its like an awareness thing the more you show it to people the more they remember and learn.....I honestly had totally forgotten about that thread but hey experinces of others always help you make better decisions. |

They told me they had kept a hold on my account because I would have swiped it somewhere which maybe a place that is currently under investigation for a debit card copying scam....I was in hurry and getting late for work...So I didnt ask her to many questions. |

I don't see why they needed to place a hold on your account.
All they really needed to do was switch your PIN.
When the 'scammers' steal your debit card info, they also capture your PIN either via camera or some other device.
If you switch your PIN, they'd have no way of using your card to withdraw funds. But I guess they were just playing it safe. |
