Hey guys, just wondered if any of you have the M-Audio Axiom controller keyboard? I currently have one ordered and wondered what you think about it? Pros and cons etc...
I really like the look of it, mainly because the rest of my setup is black with blue lighting hehe. But is there any problems with it? For some reason the guy was trying to sell me another controller, but I didnt like it as much. I think its because there is a drought for M-Audio gear where I am.

I have an Axiom 49 and I'm happy with it.

i have the axiom 25, it's a great little unit. very functional, easy to set up and use (i do it with ableton), and the thing is built really solid

Yeah thats what I thought. It looks really solid, whereas the others I seen looked a bit flimsy. I've ordered a 49, but might go for the 61 now. Thanks for the help guys.

Great keyboard. I have the 61 key version, which was a mistake to buy because it doesn't fit on my desk and I have to get it out every time I want to produce.

Thanks for that reply mate, I was worrying about that. Might stick with the 49 then.

I just love this piece... I have a 49 version and I use it in the studio as well in my performances using reason and ableton live...

It really worth it. :)

From M-audio I have the Keystation pro 88, axiom 25, axiom 49, O2, and had the Ozonic, oxygen 8, radium 49 but I got rid of them.

Been touring intensively with axiom keyboards in the last 12 months, all I can say is that it's rock solid, but keep in mind that the faders on the 49 and 61 are not, so get a good case/bag for them and put foam in there while travelling, or else they tend to get lost or even break in your bags.

Pros for the axiom are aftertouch, nice bend and mod wheels, and despite their size, good faders, and also a special mention for the keyboard itself.

Cons are endless rotary knobs. Every single time you are setting up on stage, make sure you just check their values before starting your set. And they are slow. I hate those v-knobs. And don't forget, no labelling.

If only they had made an ozonic without soundcard and with usb2 instead of firewire!!

Today, I'd go for novation though. At least you have parameters labelled on screen.

Axioms are nice controllers, just be gentle with them, as mentioned above they are somewhat delicate. There were some older batches of the 49's and 61's that tended to die, I unfortunately got one, it died in a few months. It seems to be limited to a few production runs, so if you're buying new it should be good.

But personally, the Akai MPK49 isn't that much more money, and is quite a bit nicer :)
