Argentina has been a major force in electronic dance music for quite a
number of years now. Leading the charge has been the unstoppable Hernan
Cattaneo but there is a whole host of DJs and producers following in his
slipstream, none more so than Manuel Sofia aka MOS. Born the son of a
renowned Argentine classical pianist 26 years ago, music is in Manuel's
blood and by the age of 16 he had already started DJing. Now his discography
boasts releases and remixes for labels such as Sprout, Swift and Vapour and
he can count Sasha, Satoshi Tomiie and Funk D Void amongst his growing
legion of fans.
His debut for Audio Therapy is quite simply, outstanding. With 2 originals
to choose from in the form of title track 'Emotional Distortion', which is
aptly steeped in emotional melodies and distorted chords alongside the more
techno influenced sound of 'No Balls Cat'. Finally we thought we would truly
spoil you guys with a remix by the very much on form Popof whose recent work
on the likes of Skryptom and CR2 have been firm favourites of ours.
All in all we think this is a stunning first appearance on the label from
MOS and hope you'll agree with us that we have one hell of a package here.

The two original tracks featured here are on the average tip. 'Emotional
Distortion' is on a driving, electro-tinged, progressive route while 'No
Ball's Cat' is slightly better has a more melodic feel. But wait until you
hear the remix by Popof. Big room, techy progressive shenanigans that is
set to blow clubland apart with it's full on energy and insane synths.

The Popof mix is so nice! The original emotional distortion is a dancefloor
destroyer too! Awesome release! |

I guess the only reason I don't care for the Popof mix is because it sounds exactly the same as everything else he's making at the moment.
I'm sure it will get tons of play because people are all over him right now, but I think he's done better - and I'd really like to see him stretch his legs a bit and give a go at something that isn't his typical sound. |

Popof and Prydz are some of the few artists I know that will have a similar sound to most of their work and am completely content. |

I understand where that comes from, but for me this remix eclipses a lot of the others; and still sounds very fresh.
Dropped this one last night in Slovak underground party and it went right off. |
