Is it just me people, or are vocals over trance coming back in a big way?
Don't get me wrong, I love vocals if they are put to good use. What I am afraid of happening is people putting vocals over the music just for the sake of it... just to be "popular".
eg: Aquagen - Hard To Say I'm Sorry; Akyra - Here Comes The Rain Again
I realise that the above songs use samples from OLD OLD OLD songs, but there are some original tracks that are just plain cheesy.
PS: IMO, Aquagen's track sounds better without the sample.
Anyway, this is my 2 cents worth. |

Well, it does happen a lot and it does bring up the comercialism of the track IE Riva or 4 Strings and even Blank& Jones (Desire)...
Still, there usually is an instrumental version so everyone's happy... |

Andian - Summer Calling is great.
But I think big strong synths are more the style, rather than songs focusing on big uplifting vocals.
2001 was a great year for vocals, IMO. |

Definetly have to agree some trance tunes suit vocals but a lot of records that make it big commerically start out as instrumentals eg Spiller Groovejet which only made it really big after the vocals of sophie ellis baxter were recorded.
Hard to be a good uplifting melody but interspersed with a quality singalong vocal every 3 or 4 tracks is quality! |

I wish trance producers would commit to keeping the quality in trance rather than trying to get quantity.
Voicals are awesome when used correctly of course. (eg. Silence, Innocente). I always thought that trance was more about the instruments than vocals.
I always thought 2000 was a good year for vocals... we had Silence, Dreaming, etc... |

| I concur, vocals can make a big difference, both good and bad, but I wouldnt like every new track made to have a full on song layered over it. Singing in trance tracks works best when the words suite the style of the track :) |
