I've never seen G&D and I can't this time, but it seems like people either like or hate their live sets. Do they just play cheese vocal type tracks or what? I like their productions... |
I respect them as producers and like some of their productions but IMO they need to stick to producing and less DJing. They have been DJing long enough and still can't seem to figure out the concept of programming a set. They are all over the place.....no flow at all....they start to build things up with a decent track with lots of build ups and white noise only to follow up with something totally empty and boring.....totally killing any flow and excitement. I thought their mixing skills had improved a lot from years ago but this was only after they started using ableton. Last time they were at Pacha we were behind the booth watching them for awhile. I lost a lot of respect for them when we noticed they were mixing a prerecorded mix on abelton with one channel on the mixer lol. They sure act like they are doing a lot up there when in fact they are basically doing nothing at all. I guess people that go out to see them are happy enough hearing their productions live in a club and could give two s about everything else that goes into a quality live set.
I wasn't gonna get into again because I realize every G&D thread gets nailed with negativity lol but you asked so I'm giving my honest opinion. You should go and check them out though if you never seen them....who knows, maybe you will like them or maybe they will be "on" that night.....either way you should form your own opinion on them. I will never spend my hard earned money to go see them again. ;) |

Despite everyones negative opinion of G&D I'm still going.
I remember back when G&D would be one of the greatest TA party meetups & everyone would have a amazing time. G&D, Above & Beyond & Ferry shows bring back some of my greatest clubbing memories of 2005 and 2006. I admit that alot of there tracks are boring and their recent sets can get dull at times. They start slow and stay slow for a while, and then go back to slow after a high energy moment. Those high energy moments usually make the whole night worth it. |
