+2 ...where is the interesting fact?
anyway, armin and tiesto play alot of the same crap IMO. And i think LA gets all the cheese from both of these guys. The only times i have enjoyed tiesto have been at ICE and Tijuana.
Armin blew me away the first time i saw him at the Henry Fonda, and his 4 hr set at circus. a few years back. Although i thought his 8 hrs Armin Only at giant was pretty good, just wish Piet of Rank 1 hung out up there a bit longer then 30 min. That was the best 30 min of the entire set! |

This too was my favorite Armin set. If i'm not mistaken it was the first time Markus played in LA opening for Armin and he was SOLID that night. Best Markus set I have ever heard. |

I haven't listened to ASOT for a while either. Think its the fact that I now rather listen to house vs. trance.
Saw Armin @ Circus (only times I've been to Circus), Armin in OC and Armin in SD.
OC was cool, SD was wayyy to packed. (that Belo place, only time I've been there also).
DJ's do play better with better crowd. LA doesn't have the best trance crowd. Probably the worst trance in the world actually. (Washing Machines suck all my energy out!) |

OK, you obviously haven't seen Armin a lot, in different cities.
Armin does indeed play a lot like he does on ASOT in a lot of cities...and oddly, people aren't a big fan of it because it's a bit soft.
He seems to play in LA a lot this way over the past several years.
For some reason, SF usually brings out a whole different side of Armin and he just BRINGS IT here and his sets are far more energetic and flat out superior to his radio show. He occasionally have an iffy night in SF, but most of the time it's amazing. I've yet to really be blown away by a set of his in LA.
A similar thing used to go on with PvD. I would see him in LA and SF all the time with a group of friends (some from LA, some from SF) and his sets in SF were consistently harder and flat out better than his LA sets. This hasn't really been so since probably 2003/2004 though.

Agreed here with Dave 100%, and 72hrpartyanimal.
Seeing Armin here in contrast to seeing him overseas and at other venues is different. Usually when he arrives to SF, I sometimes get the chance to chat it up with Armin a bit before he goes on. Over the last few years, regardless if he is playing on a Sunday or sometime during the week I would make it out. I would always make it a point as Armin really was a major influence that pushed me to purse Djing professionally.
The only time Armin really blew me away here in CA, I will say again was in 2004 at 1015 During his 76 Tour. That was before the Allen & Heath was there. The Rane Rotary mixer was there in the mainroom. (some of you older TA’s may remember) His mashup of Suburban Train and Yet another Day blended perfectly, and if I recall right it was a 6 hour set. He was accompanied by opener Harry Lemon (Lemon8) and his brother Eller during the tour.
I’ve heard from several friends that when he plays in LA and in SF, It’s different. SF’s scene over the last couple of years still continues to be dominated by house.
I used to think his sets were better, cause SF always gets him after shows in LA. Maybe second time around is better? But then again after reading Daves comment, that’s pretty much right. I’ve seen him at Church and a couple venues in Miami and NY. He just plays differently here.
In SF, Would say over the last couple of years, he plays similar to his style as he plays at both Gatecrasher and Sensation.
PVD, hes only impressed me recently with his style and the way he played a few weeks ago. Possibly the best I have heard from him in a while. You still get the “in between” where everyone is just standing around. I think you guys who have seen him in SF know what I'm talking about. In contrast between him and Armin, Armin has everyone cheering almost every track or every other track. Hes the only Dj I have seen so far that has that effect on people, expecially SF. The only other Dj that somewhat can do that, is Ferry.
