I put on goal post style trussing ok and all with little work. 3 should work and all fine. I just got 5 because of the deal i had and wished I only took 3 and all. I did construction work before moved on to the mining industry working under ground as construction operator then move up to mill after being there a year.

Is there only one option of mounting the smartMACs and that might be through trussing or your homeconstructed truss system? Or can they mounted on basic tripod with T-Bar top? BTW if ya ever want to sell your lights I am falling in love with them..lol...but who wouldnt love em...
wesleysnipez
Not sure about that will have to look at em once I get the gear out of storage and all to be sure on mounting. I know basic truss system works but not sure on T-bars and all off hand. I remember there pdf of manual for it and had this.

The smartMAC can be placed on a horizontal surface such as a stage, mounted on a quick-release bracket or clamped to a truss in any orientation. The quarter-turn clamp bracket mounting points in the base of the fixture allow clamp brackets to be fastened parallel or perpendicular to the front of the fixture.

Go to Physical installation section of pdf on the manual here and check out and see there instruction for 2 types installs. That may help you out more then I can atm.

The stands I used was similar to this set up here but a custom homemade job to handle the weight better and added a winch to the stands to make it easier on raising and lowering the system. I also have 2 T-bar tops to go with it on the ends.

Because I needed a stand system that could hold around 520 pound of gear. If you added all my lights up minus the strobes and smoker it is around about 520 pounds of total weight of just lights.

Thats great. Thanks for the info, once again, it really helps out.
wesleysnipez
Will after checking that out will it work for you with that type light stands?
DJ Techja
No. The weight is an issue. I am heavily looking into building my own truss system w/ crank...just like you did. The ones online are very expensive, so I do it myself. Any tips?

Awe I had person in my town that was a wielder so after I told the length of the system and picture of what should look like he went town on his owned.

I haven't seen you contribute much to the forum. At least this thread is instructive, especially for mobile guys.

Will have to look around I might still have guys Pre-Drawing he made of it before he started cutting, bending and wielding pipe for it. Because for some of it he used pipe bender and all to help on structure support then have more wields.

DJ Techja
Yeah...the best thing is to become friends with a welder, I might know I guy through a guy, so we'll see...

Best part was I grew up in small town so I got know a lot people and one of em was wielder. I'm still looking for the drawing because it is mess at new house because of the only about half the boxes are unpacked.
