Maybe these things didnt get as much attention in the past as they do now because there simply wasnt that much media but still, to me, Sarko has allready proven he doesnt belong in the illustrious list of french Presidents like De Gaulle and Mitterand for instance.

Well, de Gaulle was you either loved him or hate him sort of guy and Mitterand was probably the most charismatic prez France ever had.
Those guys set the bar pretty high.
