I wonder how harsh the laws in Japan are about that kind of thing. Initial D made it seem like cops were nonexistent and/or did not care about street racers ripping down the mountains at night.

It's nice to laugh at when this stuff happens abroad.
It's not so funny, when it happens right here at home in Toronto. Anyone of us could be on the Gardner or anywhere in the big smoke when some idiots try to pull this off on our streets.

Racers pass police cruiser at 200 km/h
Chris Wattie, National Post
Published: Tuesday, February 26, 2008
Police are looking for a pair of street racers who breezed past a marked cruiser at more than 200 kilometres per hour on the Gardiner Expressway, a speed one veteran traffic officer called "beyond comprehension."
The startled officers gave chase after two vehicles passed them on Friday at 2:30 a.m. on the freeway and caught one of the speedsters, but Staff Sergeant Keith Haines, of the Toronto police traffic services division, said investigators are appealing to the public for help in catching the second driver.
"We're hoping someone got a good look at the car, or the licence plate and will step forward and help us catch this guy," he said. "You never know, there might even have been a passenger in that car who didn't want to go at those kind of speeds."
The officers only got a glimpse at the car that got away, a dark-coloured vehicle that eluded them by entering a condominium complex at Brookers Lane, off Lakeshore Boulevard West. "This guy was going dangerously fast," Staff Sgt. Haines said.
"If anything ever happened, if anything at all had gone wrong at that speed, you'd just be debris. No amount of air bags, seat-belts or protection would help you.... That was more than double the posted limit."
Police impounded the arrested suspect's car, a silver Honda S2000.
David Sim, 24, of Toronto, is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and racing or chasing another motor vehicle.
The two vehicles were seen weaving in and out of the early-morning traffic on the westbound Gardiner before zooming past the cruiser. Both careened off the highway at the Lakeshore Boulevard exit.
Possible witnesses should call police at 416-808-1900, or Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or go online at www.222tips.com.

It's true ... but, these guys in Jap are pros. The most likely got ppl from many distances to watch out for cops & report the amount of traffic moving into the area.
Most of these kids here in North America are the wannabes of the Fast & Moronics.

So true.
Not saying it's right to do just because someones a pro, but if someones going to do it, I'd rather it be from a pro who takes steps to make it safer, than someone who isn't.
