Wow. The part about the actual "grammer" in the Mandarin language blew me away. The girl I used to carpool with to-and-fro the University last year was chinese. She taught me a few words here and there, and I thought I had them perfect. She said I had no idea how bad of an accent I had. lol. Then one day eating at the pizza hut at the UCenter she wrote down the symbols, that is the chinese characters they use, and the way a "^" in my name had to be pronounce by doubling the sound towards the end. Extremely confusing IMO. I especially like that "Pinyin" concept there.
