Maybe so, but what you said was totally wrong, even if you say respectfully before saying it.
Jay is right about the state of the scene in Montreal. There's no doubt about it when you see all the talent leaving town one after another.
In two months I have seen Guillaume Coutu Dumont and Ernesto Feyrrera (sp??) leave for Europe.
And it doesnt take a god to understand that we have a problem right now.
Fortunately, we still have Piknic, I love Neon and Mutek, who are all struggling to deliver some good shows. They try hard, but they still face the same problems with the Montreal hard to please crowd.
The small amount of survivors such as Pheek, Mossa and Akufen (who is out of town 99% of the year anyways) try to make it here but they get close to no recognition. And now a Tiesto in Montreal topic has 5 pages in one day, and a Ricardo Villalobos thread gets 10 in 2 months.
That, respectfully, is a ing big problem. |

I'm sure a Britney Spears thread would get more than the Villalobos one too. Ricardo Villalobos, as awesome as he is, will not be a household name in North America, and you can't really be surprised that he gets less acknowledgement than crap mainstream DJs. Also, the majority of the posts in this thread are from people in agreement that Tiesto is crap -- quite the opposite in the Villalobos one.
Yeah, our scene is nowhere near as good as it is in Europe, I've seen the parties there myself. Does that mean our scene is bad? no. I'm actually really happy with it out here; sure as is a lot better than Vancouver ever was! |

Britney Spears would not get such a big thread on a Tranceaddict forum...:conf:

I understand what you mean. What I should have added to the "fortunately we have balblabla" part is: Unfortunately, in the past, we had the reflex of saying "we have mutek, we have this, we have that, so we're good". But we never got to actually promote these things to the general public, and this is more of a societal problem, but not something that is really worth discussing here.
Point is: We are good, we have what it takes, but we missed the boat big time. |
