those are ugly as sin Ben, and unless you plan on tucking your pants/jeans into boots (which is even gayer than wanting boots in California to begin with), they're still going to drag on the ground and get wet no matter what shoes you're wearing.
just get some decent lo or mid height leather boots and if it's really THAT wet, roll your jeans up a bit so they don't drag. |

Or one you'd wear for its waterproof protection from rain/snow?
Check out www.timberland.com - they have a lot of styles, but they're going to be tops for staying dry in the elements.
