| Well I also have to ask, are they still all about the death penalty in places like China or India that are far more populated than the US? Maybe they have less people in prison because they kill more people...? |

That is some of the most retarded logic I have ever seen on this forum. :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: |

Uhh...why? In Singapore you get the death penalty for drug trafficking, and in most Soviet republics prisons are few and far between due to lack of funding. Realize that in the US we throw people in prison for reasons that are laughable in other countries. Oh and I was asking a question, not applying logic. |

First of all theres no way to tell exactly how many people in China are incarcerated because they report the numbers differently. Also, they only declared 13 executions in 2007, the actual number might be much higher. And regardless of who has more prisoners than who, the fact is that in the United States the situation has become ridiculous.
Also, I didn't know there were still Soviet Republics in existence. |

Who declared 13 executions? The US? And yes, in the US the situation has gotten ridiculous, theres no argument there. I was only asking if whether or not in the couple of more populated countries the laws are more harsh and therefore less people are sent to prison and more people are given the death penalty. I have hardly any logic in criminology, especially foreign, so I know jack about this sorta thing. Which is why I put all those question marks in my sentences.

| I just dont think that # of executions in the grand scheme of things has much effect on overall inmate population. At most even countries that have very large numbers of executions per year only number in the few hundreds, which is not big enough to make a dent in prison populations in excess of a few million. |

Ill agree with that. After rereading my post it would seem rather ridiculous if countries were putting hundreds of thousands of people under a death sentence, that would hit worldwide news, and I havent heard anything along the lines of that.
We can just rest on the fact that the US judicial system is an unforgiving and very badly controlled program that needs a facelift and some leniency. Throw the real criminals in prison, not the punk ass with an ounce of weed. |

I'll try again...I bet the majority of prisoners are their due to a drug offense. News Flash: ~~US is losing the war on drugs~~ Now post your fail boat. |
