Nobody plays what they like anymore, or playing the wrong tracks at the wrong time....
I dont really know, define minimal.. ? I didnt hear anything that sounds like minimal or techno.. i heard some atmospheric ping pong delay.. and some electro garbage.
I thought his set was pretty good, but I was busy.. I usually pay attention to choons about 1/2 of the time.
edit: ok, srsly.. what the is minimal to everybody else?
edit2: this is minimal to me

Apparently misquoting someone's sound as minimal is blasphemy on these boards. Some people seem to get their panties in a bunch over it. :nervous:
It cracks me up every time. |

It's not blasphemy. I don't believe in that :p it's just terribly misguided, and somewhat funny.
Minimal is a new buzzword that everyone is throwing around without having any idea as to what it means.
Minimalism is an overall movement ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimalism ), and certain forms of techno did borrow from it, but I doubt most people here have heard any of that, since not too many folks around here are into Hawtin, Villalobos, or any of the other jocks who do sometimes play minimal. It seems people are using it to describe anything that isn't what they listen to these days, or anything stripped down and simplified from that they're used to hearing. Eric Prydz would not describe himself as minimal, and most of the tracks I find in the beatport minimal section tend to be techno or tech house, and beatport's genre labeling is terrible anyway.
I like to call it stripped down tech house / prog / or techno, because thats essentially what it is. True minimal is more along the lines of Plastikman, and even most of the "minimal" Djs also play a lot of techno, tech house and sometimes house or prog.
Usually the first artists I think of when i hear "minimal" are Phil Glass or Steve Reich. |

I agree. Back in the days, minimal had a whole different meaning. Now, everything is "minimal."

It's on his recent live set from Gallery. I can pm you a link and t/l if you want.
As for Pryda tracks, I would generally describe them as progressive house. |

agreed, some people on here are just too cool for school...but yeah its absurdly obvious his sound is pretty much on the opposite side of the spectrum from minimal:wtf: |
