alright, Im gonna be getting some decks very soon and need some advice for a mixer/needles. Mixer wise, I dont need anything too elaborate, as long as it is good sound quality and will allow me to beatmach entirely in the headphones. Im thinking about a Numark 1002x. Has anyone whos used this comment on its quality?
Cartrage/Needle wise, I dont want to go incredibly overboard, but I am a nut on sound quality. Im thinking about some ortofons.
Any advice?
btw, my total budget is around $1300, but Id like to save as much as possable for records |

As far as the mixer goes, I have the Numark DM1002X and I love it. Alot of people will say that it sucks, but I haven't had any problems with it yet (knock on wood cause I can't afford another one yet :) As far as carts go...deffinently go with ortofons. Hopefully this will help you out on makin some decisions. You will be in heaven when you get your setup :)

Ive heard the numark mixers have a dodgy crossfader, but thats just from what i have heard. I dont know first hand.
Excellent Mixers: Rane, Vestax, Pioneer, (technics?)
Not bad to pretty good: gemini, numark, stanton
The stanton rm3 looks a lot like the vestaxpmc270 in functions, but the stanton is cheaper and doesnt have a good crossfader. ah screw, who needs a crossfader anyways? just use the volumes :) |

ya if ur gonna go all out on cartridges, get the Ortofons, otherwise go for Shures.
as far as mixer goes... any scratch mixer (the ones with curve) usually will let you mix in headphones. I have the Rane TTM 56.. it's awesome but pricey.
The best mixers for home use imo are the Ranes, Allen&Heath, Pioneer, and Vestax |

| Im also looking at the Stanton RM-3 and RM-3s. Is there any big difference between the two? |
