I am currently helping out a friend to setup his Roland SH-201 synthesizer in FL Studio. What I need to know is if it's possible to hear the sound of the SH-201 inside FL Studio.
The SH-201 is connected to the DAW with only the USB connection. We can cet the piano roll to respond but when we play the pattern without playing on the synth. There is no sound coming out in FL.
Another thing that bother is that when we try to mixdown the small sample, it looks like the wave file is empty.
Can somebody help me out with the problem? |

You are probably just recording the midi - that data - since only the USB is connected. Not familiar with FL, but can you add a sample and route the data to that so the notes you record will route to the audio and playback? Where is the piano roll sound coming from - FL itself? |

I have finally found the resolution of this problem by reading the FL studio manual about recording USB devices. I have installed ASIO4ALL on the PC and have selected the SH-201 as input device and the soundcard as the ouput device.
After that I have assigned a free mixer track and selected the In- and output sources I configured in ASIO4ALL.
Now we are able to hear the SH-201 within FL Studio and we can play with the piano roll as well.
I think I should RTFM more before posting a question . :D
Thanks for the reply.

Thanks having myself a bit of trouble in Ableton. I can get the SH-201 Editor to change presets once in Ableton (can't click on File).
I'll try what you've just said. |
