| Original is fine, this is a pointless remix IMO. The violin doesnt add anything to it, it just gets in the way TBH. Unnecessary. |

like hell it does. If you were at trance energy 2 weeks ago when ferry dropped this, you'd know what the "violin does" |

It might do something to a general Ferry crowd, but as a structured tune it breaks up an otherwise good breakdown and needlessly extends it. What you end up with is a track that loses all its energy and is woefully structured.
The bit at 1m20 of that vid just sounds out of place and then it audibly fades out and fades back into the original.
A piss poor attempt at a remake, an even worse attempt at making an orchestral trance hybrid and if released, a pure and absolute cash cow. |

great. now all the remakes of classic tunes are going to have ing violin, cellos and other ochestral mashed into them.
(hmm..perhaps i should follow suit..) :wtf: |

ok first of all, this is not a "remake" and not a cash cow as it's for ferry's personal use in sets, not for sales. He didn't remix this track, it's still the same exact Out of the Blue, but with a 30 second classical interpretation added to the breakdown. If you can't appreciate the quality of this rendition, well then your taste only accepts full on trance with god-forbid anything else in the middle to interrupt it.
As opposed to the stuff you hear on "classical music in trance" CD's, this rendition is actually very well orchestrated. I'm wondering in fact if Ferry wrote the sheet music to this himself, or left it up to trained classical musicians. Would be interesting if anyone knew .. |

It is NOT a quality rendition, its a 15 minute hack-job done in a studio on a Friday night. Whilst the quality of the violin work is good, dont get me wrong about that, the violin does not sit well in the breakdown as it stands and it is patently not a good trance-orchestra hybrid. Its not even a hybrid. To be a hybrid, you must have trance AND orchestra at once. This doesnt, it has trance then orchestra then back to trance.
And notice in the vid that owned me terribly how quiet everyone is during the violin breakdown and how they go nuts when the lights come on after the violin piece. Curiously enough thats just after the violin piece fades out and is where the beat drops on the original mix anyway.
This remake is pointless. I dont care if other people like it, thats their business, but it needs to be said that it is still a totally unnecessary 200x update of a classic track that rapes the original in one way or another.
Edit: And accusing me of only liking full-on trance is hilarious at best, retarded at worst. |

in your opinion, of course! :D
the point of the violin part is to build tension and anticipation of the real lead synth tearing through. As you can tell - it obviously worked as intended in the vid. I guarantee you the crowd wouldn't go as mental had the lead just dropped right at the beginning of the breakdown.
ps. why so uptight about the whole hybrid idea? Nobody claimed this was a hybrid, nobody even mentioned hybrid, the only one talking about hybrids is you. I'm pretty clear on the fact that this song consists of a classical piece followed by the original trance version, and that the two aren't overlapping. But ok. |
