Right so I got sick of trying to make things sound good on Reason so I bought an Access Virus TI and starting using Cubase and other VST's.
So here is the start of my first Virus TI track!!
[[ LINK REMOVED ]]
I've only got as far as the break cause I've probably been tweaking too much. Also first time I've ever used compression believe it or not and I finally know what its used for :wtf:
Would love some feedback please.
cheers

very nice sounds you've got going on there, so how is the virus is it all that people say about it. |

If you can afford it, I'd take it over software any day. Not sure how the virus predecessors are but the way this one interacts with the desktop as a VST makes switching from software to hardware seamless. I've never used a midi only synth.
Also there is a lot to be said for having a full sized keyboard in front of you (i have the keyboard version). It seems to encourage creativity in creating melodies. It also has to be the smartest looking synth out there.
The main thing though is obviously the sound. I haven't even started experimenting with my own patches yet because I have such huge libraries of amazing onboard and purchased (Vengeance) patches which I want to experiment with first. The texture of the sounds once the effects etc have been added is amazing and the filters are awesome.
I'm definitely glad I purchased it as it has improved my general synth knowledge. There are some impressive vst's out there these days that are tough competetors but Virus any day. |

its ok, im no expert but i would say the next bit of the track should have less emphesis on the arp rythem as its been there most of the time. i quite liked the other little sound at 1:22.
i have the virus too but the kc series, your right its definately better than software although some can sound as good. i was seriously considering upgrading to the ti to have the seperate effects on all 16 parts in multimode which annoyingly you cant do with the kc. i have to admit i cant work without a hardware keyboard too, i have a midi keyboard i use with softsynths. |

The virus does have a nice warm sound, here are a few things: the percussion is sort of weak. Try messing with the compression after putting them all on a single bus. The synths do sound good but you don't have any enough good reverb IMHO. I suppose if you really cleaned up the production you could do a lot with this track! |

Story of my life!! My production skills aren't great at all and I'm ever striving to get to the level I want to be. I never know if I need to full the spaces with more synths/percussion or effects.
Anyway maybe I need to change the first drum loop or add some more percs around it. I just used a loop.
Will work on the reverb.

Hi mate,
I've got a ti as well. Its brilliant isnt it!
Starts promising. Some nice sounds here. The bass is simple but works well. Percussion is lacking a bit. Doesn't seem to be cutting through well enough. Needs beefing up a bit.
The arp is good but perhaps used as the focus a bit too much. You'll definately need an impressive lead to come in after the breakdown to really drive this track along.
This does sound promsing though, work on the percussion, add some more FX and use the Virus to create a killer lead and you're well on your way.
Keep at it! |
