Guv looks :eyes: very cool!
So much cleaner!
It actually is somewhat of a club now then a rathole (and it will be even better when they open up a second floor area).
Wednesdays @ Guv are great too, just the right amount of people, room to dance, walk, breathe..
Jules - hmmmmmm I expected more melodic, "mellow" uplifting stuff, instead he played hard, a lot of energy, but just noisy! It was very dynamic and the crowd was into it. I liked it, but quickly got enough and jetted out (probably cause alcohol was wearing me down).
All in all, I wondered what Richie Hawtin was doing on the other end of town :p

No more water at GUV! Remember the days of refilling the water bottle with some cold tap water? those days are over! They have those single temperature taps now, and a Mexican handing out towels in there...

Best thing they did was tile the floor. Much softer dancing surface which means you can dance longer!!! Also they installed lots of fans in there, should be cooler in the summer.

Otherwise, the Guv is the same. Same setup with just a couple of touches here and there like lots of red paint.

JJ had no flow whatsoever in his set. Some cool tracks nothing special. As a set 5/10, my opinion.

Judge Jules has absolutely NO CONCEPT OF FLOW AT ALL!!!

He started off the night reaaaaally hard then towards the middle he totally lost me. And then as was the case with his set here in December he somewhat redeemed himself towards the end of the set with some good uplifting trancier tunes. I liked his track selection ALOT BETTER this time as opposed to the last time he played at GUV but he is really LOST when trying to build up a night. No sense of flow whatsoever...goes from hard to mellow to hard to soft, back and forth all night...!!! Its not the constant upward progression that im into...meh whatever...id still go see him though if he were to come back, just because I liked his track selection last night...he was NOT CHEESEY AT ALL!!!(yes u read that right lol)

Mark Oliver also played an amazing opening set last night. He played more trance then Jules did...!!!

Overall I had a good time last night.

The Guv looks AMAZING!!! I could spend all night in the entrance hall staring at the scrolling words across the walls!! That place was long overdue for a remodelling, & they did a great job.

Caught the tail end of Mark's set & reallly liked the classics he as dropping, but I'm gonna have to agree with you guys with regards to Jules last night. While it was SOOOO much better than the last time he played Guv, he did not take it to the level he should've. I saw him in Miami at the WMC, & it was my favorite set of the conference. He blew me away! According to Itikia, his set at Qontact 4/29 was probably just as good. I was hoping for a repeat, but it never reached that point. He did play some great tracks last night, and there was no 'cheese', but the flow wasn't what I'd hoped for. Not one Mauro tune either, which was disappointing.

I still really like Jules as a DJ, & would go check him out anytime I have the chance.

Saw Itikia, Special K, & Snipes (& buddy Keith)- all very cool people. Someone asked me where Brunette was, but I have no idea what she looks like. Out attempt at a meetup was unsuccessful, & met most people on the dancefloor with my spelling toy.

What?!!
No more water refills?!!! , they better lower the price of water then... cuz I don't feel like giving $3.75 every time I need a bottle of cold water (I'll be broke in the morning)!

And about the JJ's set... I don't know if he had any flow last night at all, but the track selection was great, pure hard trance, not much cheese... It was a great set for those who like this type of stuff, and very energetic too (maybe cuz I didn't get to hear all the usual cheese stuff, so I was kinda stunned)... the only songs I could recognize (and remember after all those drinks now) are Lethal Industry, 10 in 01 (what a en way to finish us off!), Can U Dig It, and a few more very well known tracks that I can't think of right now. Everything else was just pure hard energy trance, and I am still deaf on both ears, and blind from all the visuals (hey, the lasers and lights look nuts now!).

The crowd was really good, didn't see too many mashed people... as a matter of fact, I only saw two-three of them. Atmosphere was great, new GUV looks amazing (few minor touch-ups make a hell of a difference) and a lot cleaner now.

All in all, I wish they could make this Wednesdays @ the GUV a regular thing. That's my 2 cents for today...

P.S. --> What is the name of that song with saxophone? He played it last time too... that jazzy/trancy something mix, what is the name of it? AAARGGHHH! Anyone???

Yup - I agree - he didn't hold my atention at all - actually got so bored I had to leave way earlier than I had planned... don't know what happened - he seemed to just be playing songs for the radio rather than trying to do a DJ set.

Is it just me or did the sound seem lower than usual? Less bass?

well the judge started off with a nice set last night but slowly it started to loose flow until he got me sitting out in teh back back bar on a stool lol....

Overall though i was impressed with the new guv layout, the people were cool and i had a fun time. It was fun to hear and talk to him @ the end.. Me and a couple of friends decided to take a picture with him, he's got a funny voice lol..

I unfortunately didnt get to meet any tranceaddicts i kept on asking around the wrong people and they wouldnt know what i was talking about.

I would have liked to meet the rest of you but i guess in future parties w'ell do so, I was wearing a tight D blue t-shirt, red pants and was flaring glowsticks throughout the whole night... so if u guys eva recon me give me a shout @ a party one time..

Yah well they said they were only using it to 50% capability which would not surprise me cause thats what they did last time jules was here.. they say they're saving the power for saturday .. and id beleive its true cause guv usually has amazing sound!

I guess their worried they might empty Ontario Hydro's electricity store or something!! So if they put up the system to full power will Toronto experience a black out or something??? BAHAHAHAHA!!!

*COUGH*bull*COUGH*

Thats the one thing about Guv's sound is that it is not consistent throughout the club, there are many hollows in the sound...
