For djing and producing, and listening:
-1984 SONY hifi as an amp (not shown in pic)
-Some huge things which boom boom shake the room.
- Sony hi fi speakers circa 1998 ish
-A realistic switching box to switch between pairs.

I get to play with funktion ones, dynachord alpha, jbl and turbosound and other such big systems in the course of my work, so having some expensive rig at home is not high on my list. |

How good are funktion ones? One of the clubs in town has that system. Just wondering on a club scale are they right up there? |

Alright, I've gotta ask - the dynachord alpha, what do you think of it?
One of my favorite clubs in Chicago in Chicago is reopening soon and just underwent a million dollar renovation that included installing a dynachord alpha system.
The name stood out because a boatload of other clubs in Chicago are advertising newly installed Funktion sound, which is ice both to hear and play on if it's tuned right. I know nothing of DA though - so I'm excited to hear (and hopefully play on) it once they reopen.

i got to listen to a McIntosh sound system like the one pictured, it wasn't as extravagant but to this day it's some of the cleanest, clearest and most defined sound i've ever heard, studio and reference monitors included, it was priced in total at around 100,000
there's a high-end audio and video store in calgary and they have a wicked McIntosh setup in one of their sound rooms |

Immense.... if its set up right it will blow you away. Clear but devastatingly loud. |

In my house after combining the ghetto speakers my housemates had with mine

2 Technic's from mid 80's, when i googled them they came up as 'vintage'
2 Saynos
2 'White Van Scam' MTS's
JVC Hi-Fi powering the technics
Old Proaudio amp powering the sanyo's and mts
Its just under 1000watts, loud and decently clear. Not bad considering the only price any of us paid was on the wire to hook it all up.
In my room i use Logitec Z-5300's
Looking to upgrade to monitors or better speakers this summer tho as im moving out and dont want to go back to mixing on PC speakers |

1200rms into the sub!! That is some power you've got going up that subs ass.
Nice box design as well.
I've got 700rms up my subs ass in my car, can only imagine what it sounds like..
Do you find the 18" sub can keep up with the faster music? Or does it have difficulty sometimes? I've always been tempted to go back to sealed (for SQ reasons) but i just love the low end rumble you can get off a ported box..
Nice one! |
cheers mate.
the driver is a 700wrms 18" 'precision devices' driver. using double the amplifier power is something i belive in whole heartedly. you need to have a driver with good spec and know itll cope without burning up but its the only way to get fast response from a big driver. it is too fast to be honest. a very hard hitting driver and in this cabinet it is unholy!. last night i hired the rig out to a mate for a silicon soul gig. omg. i had the amp running to just below clip and the bass was unbeliveably hard hitting.
my next addition is a 24 inch driver running from 3000watts rms, in a big bass reflex cabinet. itll do everythin below 55hz:) |
