can someone please explain what is going wrong with my project in cubase...in it i am using a sample instrumental and acapella for a song...i built up the song and it is nearly finished but now when i open the project a message comes up saying :

"Samplerate could not be set. this may be due to the sampleclock being set to external sync".

as a result the samples in my project have pitch shifted downward and the tempo is slower..my project sounds like a mess and all my vst instruments arnt in tune with the new pitch of the samples...i tried importing samples again but cubase is automatically changing their tempo and pitch on import...

i always have trouble with this in cubase..how can i import these samples at their normal tempo??

thank you

well i use m-audio torq as a soundcard...but it used to open fine...im not sure but i think what might have caused it is because i saved the same project under a different name..then i went back to original name of project and its importing the samples at different tempo...im almost going to start pulling my hair out..why is it changing their tempo????

When you started the new project under the same it should not affect the old project, unless you somehow made changes to the audio files and saved over(replaced) them with one of the different speed/pitch.

it could be a global settings issue in cubase, where the master tempo (clock or BPM) has been changed under your soundcard settings. I don't have cubase in front of me right now, but try changing the settings for the soundcard and see if that affects the track.
