Hello

I need your help depending on a bassline by nitrous oxide.

You can take a listen on audiojelly http://www.audiojelly.com/index.cfm...k.cfm?id=125334

I tried to redo it with albino, using a couple of square sounds and using sidechaining to get the ducking effect, anyway it doesnt sound as crisp as the original.

I wonder how they make it. I hope you can help me.

hey man,

i might have a go but really that producer may have spent countless hours experimenting with that bass so dont give up trying new things. use a synth you know well thats the thing that will help alot, i here people say oh i used Albino also 20 + other synths and couldnt get anything. well in that case you need to know how your synth works GUI wise mostly as the signal flow in synths are stright forward but gui can put people off.

good luck

I see that... Working with the albino is always a bit tricky because of the much knobs and possibilitys to link this with that....

But after some work i got a bassline thats close to what i want to get, using some square waveforms together with a triangle sound and putting some reverb over the whole thing. At least i sidechained the basslines level with the Bassdrum.

You can download an mp3 from here..

Can't listen to the sample from work but Vanguard is a good option for bass.

In regards to getting your bass patch closer to the original link, id lose the reverb, you have a bit too much square wave in there too and id also bring up the volume of the bass a tad more relative to the kick, then you should be closer i think...

Saw waves with a square sub bass, lots of unison with just a little detune and alot of stereo spread. Maybe a bit of distortion/soft clipping too. The virus is excellent for these types of sounds.

For the actual vst itself, I would use vanguard and some of the square basses it has, adjusting the sustain and the fat knobs. As for the bassline, it sounds like he's playing with the actual volume knob and automating it so that it's in between kicks. So he just has the bass at one constant note for 3 kicks and on the 4th kick he brings it up to a higher octave note. The sustain should be at its maximum, giving it the constant tone. At the start of the kick the volume level of the bass should be zero and gradually increases to its full sound right in between the kicks to give it the off-beat sound. You should hold that level of volume (platform) till right before the next kick...in which it should go back to zero abruptly. I personally use this method to create some of my progressive tunes. I have no clue if that made any sense but u can hear what i mean at www.myspace.com/elementtrance .Let me know if you have any questions.
